Apps for learning piano part from a midi file

I have a midi file and I need to learn the part on piano… what’s a good app for doing that?

Comments

  • Thanks I found this one and it’s free, imports MIDI, and shows falling notes on iPad/Mac

  • I’ve have a lot of success using Multitrack studio.

The way it easily separates parts on midi import is very convenient. Then you can scrub the midi with finger or Apple Pencil and get way slow and granular with a part. If you have a keyboard with leds overs keys or maybe a launchpad or Linnstrument, you can send midi there and see it, playing Simon style memory games to learn.
It’s been incredibly helpful for me.

I adapted this process to Loopy Pro to separate midi from Ireal into one bar measures of midi one shots. Then I can audition, learn and even “remix” bars.

    Endless midi fun.

What keyboards have the lights you mention? Don’t know if I’ve come across one.

  • Can you read music? There are lots of apps that will convert a MIDI file to a score.

  • @FizzyLizzy27
The Keith McMillen Qnexus (can confirm)
NI Komplete Kontrol mk2 (can confirm)
Arturia Keystep Pro (don’t own but seems possible)
Roli mPiano (don’t own but seems possible)

Definitely works well with Linnstrument and Push
