@jwmmakerofmusic I do wonder if paradoxically I’d do better on a mini vs my behemoth 12.9”. I love my Mini 4 but she’s long in the tooth at this point. But tapping around the pro feels like I travel ten feet every time I need to tap across the screen. I can’t really use it without a desk or my lap.

Which is the reason why I stopped using my 12.9" pro ages ago, lol. Just too large and too many arm movements and, yeah, I need a desk for it too. :) A base level iPad is as large as I need. Of course if I were to get a new iPad Air for sheet music reading, I'd go for the 12.9" then.

I went for the 13” Air last year, despite a number of comments on here about the bigger iPads being unwieldy.

And I found it was the case.

Despite being a perfect size for LP4i (which I stopped using), it is really awkward to hold, so best suited to use on a desk.

Exactly, or also best suited on a music stand for my purposes. ;) I need that bigger screen for reading sheet music, but not for producing music. That's why my Mini is still very handy dandy.

Which model mini do you have?

The current latest one. I think it's 7th gen. :) It has 512gb, which is the minimal amount of storage I require for any iDevice.

I wish my Mini 5 was still usable. My parents, wife, and sister all pitched in one year for my birthday to get me the pink gold one. I loved it, but a few months after getting it I dropped it and it landed face down on a patch of sidewalk. I thought the case I had was a bit sturdier but the entire front was absolutely shattered. I still have it and use it here and there but that thing would’ve been my daily driver.

Shit man, I'm sorry to hear that. Me, I've bought the latest iPad Mini with each generation since the 5th gen was released in 2019. I'm kind of chomping at the bit for the Mini 8th gen if they release a 1TB version that is. ;)

It was just a cute and harmless little post. Why read so much drama into it?

    xAct….

Sometimes language and cultural differences get in the way. I think it's just a misunderstanding now that I reflect on it.

I think that's what happened. My friend misinterpreted the initial post as "yet another iOS bashing" post, not realizing that it was a goofy lighthearted post. Something a little corny and cringe, but from a spirit of fun.

But honestly, when people start outright bitching about iOS (which Fruitbat is not doing here) rather than being productive with what is most comfortable for them to use, it is grating on the nerves not gonna lie. 😂 Nobody is forcing them to stick to iOS only.

So for me, it's refreshing to see a lighthearted post on the topic and for fruitful discussion to come of it.

    Or simply projection lol

  • @wim i understand your feelings, so many years with a mouse and a keyboard. The iPad is so refreshing for my mind!

Good to know that it works well also with external instruments.
