Koala + Drambo
Hello Folks! I'm paging all the Drambo nerds who helped me out a lot on my last thread. I am looking into a new workflow with Koala as centerpiece in Drambo. I got the inspiration from this read : https://cololrsinspace.gumroad.com/l/tcfecn?layout=profile
Without knowing much from the OP-1 Field and the OP-XY, I feel the combo Koala/Drambo might be pretty much similar.
As a first question. I try to reroute the sound back into a same Koala instance for resampling purposes. Is :
Feedback Receive > Koala (as FX) > Feedback Send the best way?
If so, why is it that the feedbacked sound is less loud than the original sound?
Thanks in advance 🪷

Interesting question. I tried the same path and it’s true, the Koala output and the feedback receive output going into Koala are identical, but Koala records the input at a lower level. It may be Koala’s own gain staging or input limiting.
If you’re running Koala’s output through effects in Drambo, then using feedback is a good method. You could run the feedback through a gain module.
Thanks for confirming. I was wondering if it was a user issue! I usually normalize the samples so it's not a big deal, I was just trying to understand the underlying reason. A gain module might be a good idea nevertheless!
Koala does have built in gain staging as confirmed by the developer. I couldn’t understand why some samples were playing back lower than expected and I believe there is about a -3dB per pad built in to avoid clipping when summing multiple samples.
Nice! Thanks for confirming!
