tera pro fm7 / goes silent

Hi there...

I am going through the fm7 presets... the sound is really nice.

A lot of times when I play the keys go silent and not react.... and then react again... and so on... sometimes I can hear the very silent and then they come back loud again... this is as auv3 and standalone.

This is not happening with any other preset factory ir other modules.

I've done the usual stuff... de/reinstall and restart of the ipad... but no luck.

Anyone any idea what that is all about?

Cheers...

  • Hi. That might be caused by unusually long envelopes. Try looking at the individual operators in one of the problem presets.

  • will check that out... thnx

unfourtenatly... it is not the envelopes... still happening

Is it always the same presets? If so, which ones?

seems to happen randomly... right now I am skipping through different presets all over the place... also tested it outside loopy pro in AUM... but there it is the same...

    edit:
seems that when I stay away from the terapro fm7-presets (that which start with "Analog FM" and stay with the "_Template Original" for example and only change presets "internal" in the "ROM" the problem does not occur... fingers crossed.

I have a similar problem, it seems like the FM module keeps the maximum amount of voices/polyphony in use. The cpu also stays at a higher leven even though nothing is played… Maybe you’ve hit the cpu max and that causes silence? As a temporary solution you could lower the maximum polyphony in the settings? Hopefully @VirSyn can take a look, I love Tera Pro!

  • After some time checking out other synths I came back to tera pro (fm7) and stumbled upon the same problem which I desribed above.

uncledave and Jer4... both mentioned points which play a role in this I think.

uncledave pointed to too long envelopes... and in a way this was right... the presets where the silence happened more often have "OSC SYNC" not activated per default. So if you have a very long envelope and OSC SYNC deactivated it can result in starting a note with almost silence.

And I also noticed like Jer4 that the "voices/polyphonie-indicator" at the top is showing that when playing the voices are "piling up" to max set value but then not go down again like in the other modules... this could also be the cause for "some trouble". I hope the developer will take a look into this and provide some information, help and/or a fix.

I really like the sound of the fm7 module and would like to use it trouble free.
