Nice to see the video as you perform this track, I wish I could hear Locrian because it’s the strangest of the 7 modes and I want to see if I can detect the 1/2 steps between 1+2 and 4+4.
It is definitely Locrian imo! To my ears, bassline is kinda close to Bjork's Army of Me, which is Locrian.
Ha Nice! You actually succeeded to make it work in Locrian. 💪🏻
If you love weird scales, maybe the Gypsy scale is nice to try out. For example C-Db-E-F-G-Ab-B-C

Locrian is definitely rare, but when you hear it you get a sense of something menacing or scary.
The flat second is weird because it’s so close to the root in equal temperament (think of the Jaws theme which uses it).
The I diatonic chord is a diminished chord (very often used to evoke something scary). All other modes have a major or minor for the I.
The 5th degree of the scale is a tritone interval from the root (used a lot in heavy metal for an ‘evil’ feel) instead of a very harmonic natural 5th.
The Bjork example is something of a veering away from typical use, and a very clever approach to locrian.
I don’t think I have ever tried to use it, so kudos to anyone that does.
