New music content on my YouTube Channel! Support me if you’re interested :)

I started this channel in 2006!

20 years later I’m going to do something with it :)

This is the “hi and welcome” video, and the general principle is that I go down to my studio space and get into epic jams a lot, but never really capture anything, so the channel is going to be footage of the various jams that get going, set to some kind of pseudo-philosophical monologue about music, motivation and inspiration.

I know my monologuing skills aren’t great yet, but I’ll get there with a few iterations. I have to say that talking to a camera in a silent room is 1000x harder that performing on stage to 1000 people! The jam here is ok but there’ll be much cooler jams once I get the production down and spend less time focussing on that.

I also filmed the video, captured the audio, edited, processed and mixed everything all on an iPhone, and I built a small open source code base of scripts that I run throughout the capture/edit/process/export/archive pipeline to automate a lot of the project/file management and keep a consistent project state.

That’s the command line on iOS, this is the final generated file that is added to the folder when it reaches archived state:

I plan to make videos on the channel about this workflow.

If you’d like to support the venture (or are interested to see the next videos I make) then please subscribe to the channel, or even leave a comment or a like on the video :)

Thanks all,
Oscar

  • Can't believe I wasn't subscribed. I remedied that. I love "Water".

    Thanks very much :)

Water was/is the final “old school” video before kicking off the new content discussed here. It’s an old BeatMaker 3 classic, sampled from some water near where I live, and other watery melodies — used Laplace synth and a processed guitar primarily.
