Ghouls in The Attic (HipHop!? Piano Motifs)
Fooling around with some attempt to HipHop, just for the fun of it. Found some (Nadsat*) rap on freesound.org (blainksaint) which I thought fitted right in.
Original piano melody was generated by Piano Motif on iPad while the mayor work was done on Mac and Reason Studios.
*Nadsat is a fictional register or argot used by the teenage gang members in Anthony Burgess' dystopian novel A Clockwork Orange. Burgess was a linguist and he used this background to depict his characters as speaking a form of Russian-influenced English.[1] The name comes from the Russian suffix equivalent of -teen as in thirteen (-надцать, -nad·tsat). Nadsat was also used in Stanley Kubrick's film adaptation of the book.

My honest feedback:
Love the visuals! You know I’m a sucker for well done visuals; which you nailed here!
And I dig the melodic content, and the piano sound.
Cant stomach the rap tho, especially a female voice.
All cool bro, appreciate all feedback. The rap is all the same origin but the female is made with MicDrop (still on demo). I've always despised rap as well but lately listened a lot more and I'm starting to warm up to it. There's one thing that annoys the living hell out of and that's the grave overuse of the N word, so annoying.
I do have an instrumental version and have for days been thorn which one to go for... ☺️
I didn’t think it was “sexist”. I apologize if you took it that way.
Shameful of you to pollute my presentation with some over sensitive statements and wtf: golden rules!?. We gotta be able to criticise and if Ed don't like female rappers I'm sure no one will get hurt that he says so. All this made up wokeism is what gonna be are fall.
Okay, editing this post so to keep the focus on the awesome music!
I'm not sure I'd label this under HipHop myself, but damn it's a great piece of music.
I really love this.
Moving on and focusing back on the music...upon relistening, I will offer a couple of constructive critiques to you @Pxlhg . The vocals could possibly do with a little touch of plate reverb (not too much as we don't want the vocals to be drowned out). And a more subjective take is - I feel the drums could be moved forward a little in the mix. But all in all, this is a pretty clean production. I like it, mate.
Thank you, yeah I agree; something happened when transferring from Mac to iPad (master in Logic and then into Luma) as both drums and background choirs are clearer in original mix. Appreciate the feedback.
Oh and about the rap: the original rap voice which are not AI
Of course mate. What I suspect is Lumafusion downsampled your mix when exporting as a video. I usually render my audio in 24-bit, 48kHz before uploading to Soundcloud. I also usually make sure to leave at least -1dB headroom on the final master as well.
Ah, okay, that's quite interesting.
And I didn't know freesound.org had free vocals available. I just usually use it to find field recordings. 😅
That’s pretty cool! Reminds me of Tricky.
I don't think I've heard of that name.
I'll have to check out his music.
I'm still in the midst of listening, but already I can hear the similarities between "Ghouls in the Attic" and Tricky. This is such a vibe!
Right? There’s another track on that album where he’s singing about doing time and her voice takes over the vocals. Definitely a similar vibe to my ears.
Edit: Okay she starts the song singing.
Edit 2: Okay, that isn’t the song I’m thinking of either. lol I’m gonna have to listen to the whole album now.
@Pxlhg Sorry to sidetrack your thread. I really did like your song!
I say this could be great inspo for some future tracks Pxlhg will make.
Thanks mate for helping me too.
Thank you! I'd never heard of Tricky before but liked the songs you posted. I was just having some fun and I don't think this is a path I'll pursue any further, but, you never know. 😃
Cool track @Pxlhg. That's a nice piano sound 🎹.
Thank you for listening and for giving us such an excellent tool for starting songs.
