Legator guitars

I’ve gotten the okay to buy a guitar and have been looking online at a Legator 7-string headless. The price is right but I’m not at all familiar with the brand. Does anyone have any experience with this brand?

  • I would strongly suggest you stay away, losts of q/c issues. Really up and down on quality, its a hit or miss.

Unfortunately I have not seen many reviews at all. The only other feedback I’ve received mentioned the company HILS. They seem like decent guitars for the price.

  • Only way to avoid the risk of a lemon is to try before you buy.

  • Are you specifically wanting a Legator guitar for a reason. Maybe a custom Shop Schecter or Ibanez would be a safer investment.

There is also Aristide guitars who make similar guitars. But I think they are a little bit more expensive. They have a good reputation.

  • Definitely not hung up on a particular brand, I just hadn’t heard of that particular brand before. The last guitar that I bought was an Ibanez QX and I like it okay. They have a 7-string guitar, but I failed to mention that I also am interested in a multi-scale neck. The HILS company I mentioned above has something right up my alley. Also a nice price point for me. I’m not in a hurry and will keep poking around. I’ve looked at a few of those custom shops. Some very nice guitars, but I am but a poor hobbyist! Thank you for your suggestions.

I’m glad you mentioned HILS as an option, because I was going to recommend their 7-string headless. I recently purchased my very first headless guitar, the HN5 by Hils and I can’t share anything but positivity about the guitar and their really outstanding quality, value and customer relations and support. I have a big collection of brand guitars with headstocks and the HN5 made me almost want to sell my entire guitar collection. I’m now hooked to headless and this brand. I can only imagine their 7-string versions to be outstanding guitars for the money as well. I expect great things from this brand in the future, they’re definitely doing a lot of things right by offering top notch quality guitars for very budged-friendly prices.

  • @Dutchee Hey, thank you for your comments about HILS! I’ve heard that opinion echoed by the reviews on their website and it’s nice to hear such a glowing review outside that space. I usually take a month or two between deciding on such a purchase and actually making it. So far I’ve seen nothing to discourage me from the HZ-7.
