Logic Pro Live Loops Quantization questions

edited February 14 in Logic Pro

[Realize after posting this that this forum may be specifically for iPad Logic Pro questions, if so perhaps there's enough overlap for it to be relevant...Hope so!]

I'm starting to experiment with Live Loops on the latest version of Logic Pro on MacOS and noticing some quirks relating to Quantization.

I have "Quantize Start" set to "Cell End" and what I'd like to happen is when I play one column of loops and then queue up another column (by hitting the up arrow at the bottom of the col), I'd like the transition to happen after the longest cell in the current column completes playing.

This seems to work as I'd like sometimes ... and especially when there aren't many cells in each column, but as I begin to build out columns with more cells, the quantization gets off, where for ex, one of the queued up cells in the queued up column (to be played next) will start to play individually before the current column's cells all come around to 12 o'clock.

In order to simplify the test case, I'm using all cells/loops with length of 4 bars and only 2 columns with only 3 cells populated in each column, 2 session players and 1 audio.

Everything is transitioning as expected in the above case, but then when I drag a 4 bar section of "Software Instrument" MIDI content (from the tracks area) into a Cell in one of those columns, and continue the experiment of transitioning back and forth between columns by using the up arrows at the bottom of the cols to queue up the next one, things get screwed up again.

The new MIDI cell shows, like the others, as Loop Length and Cell Length of 4 and when transitioning out of the Live Loop column that has this new cell in it, the transition happens when expected, but then when transitioning back into this column with this new MIDI cell in it, this new MIDI cell starts to play almost immediately when it's column is queued up, not waiting for the quantization I'd expect.

Anyone have any experience / suggestions with this issue?

Thanks
