AUM Scenes

Hi folks,
I am using AUM for live performance with a midi controller. I recently decided to include drums by adding digistix2.

I use about 8 sessions with multiple instruments and effects. I do NOT want a separate sessions for each song performed. Each session will be used for several songs. Different sounds are selected within a session by using presets in individual apps.

While searching for a good way to select different digistix2 patterns within a session I stumbled onto the idea of scenes. Supposedly a scene is like a snapshot within a session.
This is what ChatGPT says about scenes:

An AUM Scene is basically a snapshot of your entire AUM setup at a moment in time.
Think of it like this:
AUM Session = the whole rig (your virtual stage)
AUM Scene = one song preset (your band for that song)
What a Scene actually stores
When you save a scene in AUM, it can remember:
Which channels are muted / soloed
Fader levels and pan
Which AUv3 plugins are active
Plugin preset states
MIDI routings
Bus sends / effects
Which DigiStix2 pattern is selected
Tempo (if you want)

The problem is these scenes cannot be found on my iPad version (up to date) of AUM.
This sounds like the description of a session but this article claims scenes are stored within a session.
My questions are Is this true and where can I find these scenes.

Is my ChatGPT hallucinating? In any case it does sound like a good feature request.

  • I think this a very good example of why you should not use ChatGPT for these things ever…

If you want to know what it possible to do in AUM, I suggest starting with the very detailed user guide: https://kymatica.com/aum/help

  • Yep, chatgpt is generally garbage for stuff like this, it's misled you completely

  • Thanks for your input. It certainly has led me down a rabbit hole more than once.

Yes, I could not find any scenes in your tutorials. 👀

  • @Bellows

Sounds like you need Camelot, Keystage, or Sessions or maybe one of the backing track apps in the App Store (don’t know the names - just know that I’ve seen them)

  • 4 pockets midi mixer saves AUM states that can be recalled "live"

  • If you're already using presets for the rest of what you want to accomplish in AUM, then why not just use presets in Digistix 2 as well?

I believe you are right Wim. Its just I am in a little bit of deep water with digistix2 as I don’t know it well enough yet. I will try to figure it out . Can anyone suggest a group of drum patterns of old style fairly simple rhythms appropriate for digistick2? Thanks
