When you go to the App Store page, pull the page down to make sure it refreshes.

It might have here as well. Still, exciting for the AUv3 implementation with iBassist. It was working well from an initial test.

  • Love this app. It’s what I’m using for my loopy pro gigs.

How do you have it set up for gigs?

I use the live pads feature. I have 8 pads setup, 6 different “regular” beats - I use them for all my songs at various tempos. 1 pad is a 4 count w/hats for breakdowns, 1 pad is16th notes w/cymbals for garbage can endings (I’m not using it much). I use midi from loopy to switch pads on a per song basis and a couple footswitches to toggle hat/ride and fills. Some songs are driven with a midi loop and I mapped certain midi notes to send midi to pd.

All of this evolved over time and to some extent is still evolving.

I’ve had these apps for ages but never tried the live pads. Is that what you were using on the demos on your site?

Yep. I like them because they can optionally do fills when you switch pads (which I always have turned on). Live pads was a game changer for me actually.

  • @wagdog You are able to select saved live pad presets via Midi? I have not been able to get this to work. I would be intrigued to know how. I have resorted to saving individual presets in both Pd and LP, and using LP widgets to select the internal presets. I'm looking for ways to change things without interaction with the PD interface.

I haven’t tried switching out an entire pad preset via midi. I use the same set of live pads (grooves?) for my entire repertoire. Between switching up between 6 different grooves, tempo differences, breakdowns, fills, toggling hat/ride, I think I’m getting enough variety for the gigs I’m doing.

Anyway, I believe you can do what you’re attempting, I just haven’t done it.

  • @JustinOllman - have you had a look at lumbeat buddy by @espiegel123 ? It looks like his template is selecting live pad sets by cycling through them and loading one. All of the midi cc/notes are in that template. It doesn’t look like you can select a specific one, but can cycle through them. I suppose with good planning that would work? https://patchstorage.com/lumbeat-buddy/

I believe that in pop drummer, if you save a livepad set then save a loopy preset, recalling the preset restores the livepad set. There seems to be a drawing bug so sometimes the correct labels aren’t shown.

  • @wagdog @espiegel123 Thanks for that info, I had looked at lumbeat buddy and used it. But I couldn't get livepads to be selectable, but that info about saving a Loopy preset recalling a livepad set is new info to me. I'd realised that saving a Loopy preset would recall a specific groove/rhythm, whatever the term is, but not that it would also recall a livepad set. I'll check that out, thanks!

  • @espiegel123 and @JustinOllman I just tried using auv3 presets with different live pads in PD (loopy pro host) and definitely had some inconsistent results.

I may mess with it later, but for the time being I’ll be sticking with what works for me.
