Which sequencer/DAW app has the best hardware control?
I might be looking for the impossible here but I'm trying to find a set up with as much hardware workflow control on an ipad mini as possible. Specifically transport and note editing (pitch, position)
By hardware I mean midi controller or computer keyboard, or some other type of hardware other than mouse.
A few things I've tried:
Cubasis.
Transport control is good. Especially the Makie integration with playhead control.
But there's no note editing control from hardware.
Sand sequencer.
Has note editing control but no playhead position control.
N-Track.
Some transport control, no note editing control.
Loopy
No note editing afaik.
I've had a quick look at Drambo, FL Studio mobile, Gadget, Zenbeats, Xequence2, and I don't think any can do playhead control and note editing from hardware.
Anything out there I'm missing or this is a fruitless search and I should go with a laptop rather than ipad?
(I really don't want to go laptop, for size and portability reasons)
Thanks.

A lot depends on your musical needs. Do you want to edit lengthy sequences, or are you more into a groovebox style workflow. For me Drambo offers excellent hardware controller support - including realtime LED feedback. I am often using an Arturia KeyStep for live playing together with a Novation Launchpad Mini MK3 to control the sequencer and a Novation Launchcontrol XL Mk3 for mixer, synths etc.

What hardware do you have to work with? Also, you mention desktop, but do you have in mind any DAW there that has note editing integration?
FL Studio Mobile everything you posted, if you redefine hardware to mean "game controller". Drambo is the next closest I can think of.
A whole bunch of different midi controllers. Would probably take too long to list them all.
I just mean left and right and up and down arrow keys to change pitch and position of a selected note. Which all desktop DAWs do.
Will look into this. Actually it's true you can edit notes with a computer keyboard but to do so you have to select 'more' and then the onscreen pitch up and down arrows. Although as far as I can tell not position, and playhead position doesn't seem to be controllable from hardware.
I will investigate the Drambo midi mapping further with a launchpad.
I know many aren't a fan of subscription pricing, but have you considered Logic Pro on iPad? I used that with the OP-1 Field I used to have, and it worked seamlessly for me.
I've signed up for a three month trial. It does seem to do some of the things I want - playhead position control for example. But note position and pitch editing is still a fiddly onscreen thing. Also I'm not in mac universe so it would be pretty expensive just for logic for ipad. Although I would consider it if it suits my workflow.
Cool. Well, I will say Logic Pro for iPad does come chock full of many gb of sounds, a lot of plugins, and other goodies like stem splitting and automatic mastering as well.
It’s true that typing keyboard support is there, but I’m talking about game controllers. The game controller support is very complete. You can do just about anything with it. I’m not sure about playhead position, but I’d be surprised if that’s not there too.
I wouldn’t limit myself to just FL Studio Mobile, but I do have to say that the game controller support is impressive and very fun.
If you have a one of the controllers Groove Rider 2 supports, you might want to check into that one. I think the details of what’s supported are in the manual.
Also, Prism MIDI Sequencer has deep integration with LaunchKey Mini MK4 (only) as an IAP. If that style of sequencing works for you, a setup like that would be less limiting than something like FL Studio Mobile. Plus, it’s very usable on smaller devices, even phones. Pretty big learning curve though.
How about that new app Condukt?
