Which apps can make wild untamed analogue sounding noises?
I'm diving back into no input and feedback loop stuff, and I was wondering what are your secrets for screams, hums, pops and clicks? The more analogue sounding the better!
Here are my favourites:
Noinputmixer obviously, although I am not a fan of the inbuilt effects apart from the delay and the glitch effect, the others colour the sound in a way I don't like, and I especially gnash my teeth with the formant and chorus effects ( early exposure to shoegaze has left a chorus flavoured bad taste in my mouth.
Dagger synth, I like to latch a key at the lowest possible note and play around with the oscillators and filters. It has a really nice analogue sound for pinging the filters. I've made a personal sample pack just messing with the random button and super low frequencies. ( I'd love to get even lower but I think that's as low as midi gets)
Double fister here: audio thing and hainbach's lines and arguments. Capable of some wild sounds especially when fed back into themselves in aum.
Line hum, I haven't delved too deeply into this one but it's a great place to start (with lots of jitter).
Broohahaizer, I just love it.

Oh god, probably tons of things Dan! One thing that might not be that obvious but which jumps to mind is another Audiothing app, Dials. I got some pretty weird stuff out of it live tweaking it on simple drone inputs:
I’m not sure it fits the category you’ve mentioned, but a few weeks ago @Poppadocrock mentioned an app that was free at the time called Resona. It records audio and gives you a few options to process/mangle it before exporting the final result. I’ve played with it a little and got some really cool textures!
I have dials!! I'll stick it in my signal flow! Thanks! I think those audio things plugins with the LFOs are really cool for radiophonic sounding chirping and droning!

A few Audiothing apps do some interesting feedback and unique type sounds, arguments, dials, lines - feedback, noises, maybe booga too.
Hilda can get wild.

Yes Audiothing are the best and most authentic sounding imo, dunno about booga buuuut I do have hilda, but totally forgot it has an input!! Good call!!

-Maybe try running that through a pulse divider in Drambo or mirack, to get it lower.
Mononoke, Shockwave, and Agonizer are all great for this. It’s basically my whole workflow. Latch/hold a note and tweak parameters til it starts evolving.

I just made something pretty noisy in Drambo, the rack is on patchstorage, too.
+1 for Combustor. Be mindful of what it’s doing and where it’s going so you don’t blow out your eardrums.

They're still on the AppStore, at least, they're on mine. I didn't get any reply from the last bug report I sent a few weeks ago, though, if that means anything. They also seem not to be porting anything new to iOS. Hopefully they'll maintain what's there. Last update to any of their apps was a year ago. I note they seem to have removed their StarWaves app from the AppStore...
Definitely a example of a dev who didn't understand this market though, and who's made some truly abysmal PR moves...
I get the ‘not available in your country’ message for everything, including VolBot. I’m in the UK.
I remember their apps did seem to have problems where they were occasionally not available in some countries. Maybe email the dev? Let us know if you get a reply 😜
