  • Just checked, all of this MPE editing is possible and available in Logic Pro 3 for iPad right now btw.

    I went and made sure, and tried it myself before posting, because y’know, I don’t know what I’m talking about half the time 🤣

    Yep @Edward_Alexander thanks, I use it a lot, and it's perfectly fine, (even though it's also the thing Dave is rightly referring to as a convoluted process to edit), basically my question was always (EDIT: but I should edit the title)what AUv3 does what Logic, Bitwig, Ableton, (Edit: I should mention Reaper, given the permissively perpetual demo) etc all do, as far as midi MPE in an AUv3 midi piano roll and so far, there doesn't seem to be any. MTR and Atom2 record it, with Atom2 being abandonware the editing never reached maturity. Xequence 2 is apparently entirely capable, though not AUv3, and as you say, Logic Pro is also a complete implementation. Word is that Sand is also capable though that also is not AUv3. That seems to be the summary so far. Helium excellent as it is otherwise was not built for MPE, which is a shame. Given that Loopy Pro usably records MPE perfectly well I'm hopeful their eventual automation editing is likely to be also future facing, probably will be, given Midi 2.0, just has to be waited on, not that that is AUv3 but I use Loopy Pro so much that I'd be using that rather than AUv3 anyway, at which point and with sidechaining, I will likely start to use Loopy more like a replacement DAW in the same way that people grew in to using Ableton not just for Live.

    @Fantastic - I hate to always be the pessimist, but I can't help but say that given all that is on the plate for Loopy Pro, I'm pretty certain it's going to be a long, long time until MPE editing is implemented. Even simple CC editing may be a fairly long wait.

    @wim yeah obviously that's fine, or rather it is what it is, however long each update takes is how long it takes, and how things are prioritized i have faith in that process being a well balanced mix of Michael's perspective and the community, I have 3 big things I'm looking forward to, sidechaining, conditionals, and automation editing, and they are big things, obviously they will take as long as they take. if one of those appears 6 months, a year, 2 years, 3(!!!), that's still a fraction of the time we waited between d'angelo albums. LP 2.0 took i'm sure longer than Michael imagined so we know these things are not quick but very worth it. i'm excited for it to happen eventually.

  • Top 3 DAW’s for editing MPE are IMO:

    Logic
    Audio Evolution
    Multitrack Studio

    If I absolutely needed an AUV3 that could edit MPE I believe LK is currently the best, with Atom2 still being good for basic editing.

    I am still waiting for the day i can replace everything with Loopy Pro, just need automation and a few upgrades to the timeline 🤞🏽

    Yeah @Tentype I feel about the same Re Loopy.
    LK isn't MPE, according to Imaginando, I asked. I was a little surprised given its well supported in Ableton and LK is firstly for Live controlling. On a ticket so possibly in future they said.

    Are you sure LK accurately records MPE? I’ve not succeeded with accurate Animoog Z recording/playback?

    @espiegel123 @Tentype

    According to email I received, no:

    "Right now, the composer section of the Matrix module doesn't support MPE. We have an ticket in LK about that so we can try adding it in the future, but for now it is not supported."

  • I guess i stand corrected on LK 👍🏽

    I was so positive it was MPE capable that I’ve been badgering Imaginando to add MPE to BAM for a while thinking they already knew how to build that functionality out. 😂

    I guess i actually used LK for a kind of timeline automation in Loopy pro (which was a pain to setup, and unstable), but i THOUGHT it also handled MPE recording and playback 🤷🏽 these days I’ve switched to Logic unless I’m doing something live.
