Loopy Pro Artist Spotlight #6: Markus K
Markus K!
In this episode of the Loopy Pro Artist Spotlight, I sit down with Markus K; a travelling blues looper who has built a one-man performance around guitar, voice, percussion, and Loopy Pro. Markus performs street concerts around the world, turning live, improvised performances into finished releases. We talk about his journey from early musical experiments and band life to a nomadic approach to music-making, and how looping became the centre of his creative identity.
We also dive into his live setup, including how he uses Loopy Pro to stay fully improvisational without relying on backing tracks, and the practical realities of performing on the street across different countries. Beyond the gear, the conversation explores intuition, creativity, and the philosophy behind his work; how travel, meditation, and live performance have all shaped the way he approaches music and life.
It was a blast.

Brilliant, thanks @Michael.
Excellent and engaging interview. Well done Michael! I loved hearing and seeing that Markus K sound come together and listening to his stories and musical process.
This was a great convo. I always thought that busking is the best gig in town, specifically for the reasons stated, no no pressure to stop or pressure to pay, no absolute expectations yet it works for both parties when done well. I need to get back to it sometime.
Thanks for that @Michael
That iPad stand looked crazy.
Off to try some crunk and transcendental meditation.
I'm new to the world of Loopy Pro, but I started following Markus K's journey back in 2014. I'd sporadically see things online, but I wouldn't say I followed it closely. He seemed like a chill bloke though, and this video was fantastic to actually get to just hear his philosophy, not to mention seeing his set up! He was a huge influence in what got me to start travelling around Australia playing in remote locations and throwing what I'd made online. The fact he can save the audio so easily directly into the ipad... I mean that saves bringing a zoom H4n around the country and more cables and batteries.
I'd say this single video has gone from me hearing about Loopy Pro and thinking it might be worth exploring at some stage, to deep diving this artist spotlight series, exploring what model of iPad I'll need to get, and what kind of controller would work best.
I have a whole bunch of learning ahead of me, but it feels quite exciting. I think I might have finally found a looper that is going to grow with me, instead of my work arounds trying to patch 2 or 3 different hardware loopers together. The fact I can change set ups by using a different midi controller means I can make this a tabletop looper for keys or a guitar looper with a foot controller. That's such a game changer for me.
Long story short, thanks for the video @Michael and despite not actually using Loopy Pro yet, thank you for all your hard work. I can't wait to dive into the world of Loopy Pro!
Wonderful! ❤️
I admit I only watched now (actually haven’t finished yet because of time constraints) but such a lovely video, and such an interesting character. Really time well spent! Thanks and all
Awesome piece. I especially liked the bit on meditation. Markus inspired me to explore loopy pro as I expand my horizons on the harmonica.
Making music since 1964, practicing Transcendental Meditation since 1981, using Loopy since 2014. The best combination. Thanks to Markus and Michael for the wonderful video.
Will his template be added to the help files?
