  • Wow, we’ve just been getting inundated with new apps/auv3s lately, haven’t we?

  • Looks interesting! There is a TestFlight version on the devs website, for anyone interested https://paulbetowski.co.uk/

I’m absolutely not saying this in relation to this particular app, just saying it in response to your comment @Edward_Alexander, but I do wonder if we’re beginning to see the beginnings of the onslaught of vibe coded apps?

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Not this one, but that other new synth app; ‘SpiceLab’.. I have a feeling that and the entire ‘support’ website for it, was vibe coded.

@Jer4 thank you for the heads up re the beta

Same, I feel that is what's happening. Again, not in relation to this dev's apps, he's been making apps for years. But many devs will be using AI as an assistant and will be churning things out faster. It's definitely going to kill the instabuy culture of this niche, maybe that's a good thing.

  • Now, regarding this particular app, FM20, I do like the look of it!

However thanks to @Jer4 for sharing their website link, I’m seeing all these other apps, that I guess aren’t available any longer?

S- Modular?? (seems like I vaguely remember this one) and Poly Synth (looks like the same kind of knobs/graphics as this new one, so that tells me it can’t be all that old) Synthdrum etc. What happened to these?

Kinda make me wary of buying anything.

  • This thing was has been in development like forever, I did not expected it to be released. I definitely like the UI.
I found a 2 year old preview vid from Leo..

  • It sounds gritty and dirty, could get some weird stuff out of it. The onboard fx are a bit rough, the reverb reminds me like an industrial desolated factory. It doesn’t scale in auv3, stays at one size, a bit small. Interesting..

  • Hm, I kinda like the sound of this...

    Very opsix-like specs!
Blending FM with VA filtering 🔥

  • It really sounds great, very vintage and raw. The fx are unpolished which adds an industrial sound color. It has it’s own obscure character, and after a Testflight demo run I bought it. B)

  • Hopefully some preset packs or something start emerging. Tried the TestFlight and the number of included ones is quite small. I am rubbish at programming fm synthesis but this thang seems like it’s capable of some wild sounds. Excited to hear what others are able to create!

  • I dig the description
    And the sound
    Interface looks nice, too
    but scaling would be helpful

hmm, and the apps that are still there haven't been updated in quite a while

Dang, I dig everything FM, especially with character. But I could also get there with what I have already

This dev brought out tons of apps, don't see most of them on the store. There was a distortion, DD-21, there was a chorus CC-21, a synth rs-08, another synth wubsynth...i think there was a delay, probably others too. What happened those, were they just quietly dropped from the AppStore? Currently I only see 3 apps total on the dev's AppStore, strange indeed...

oh, thanks for the heads up, didn't know dd-21 is from the same person. I own it, but now I might not use it anymore. just don't want to be relying on something, that might not work in the future after an update. sounds good, though. reminded me of my turboRAT pedal

I emailed him in 2024 about the apps that got removed. I was eyeing S-Modular because it was cheap and didn't mind the missing connectivity back then. Also the grooveboxes WT1, AN1 and FM304

     Hi Matheus,

Apple has removed a few of my apps from the store. I'm sure I read if you have bought them then they should still be available. But I've not tried this.

I'd like to be able to update the apps and re-submit them, but I'm not sure if I can find the time at the moment. I have other apps in development too that I want to release. But I just don't have the time.

Is there anything I can help with?

        Thanks,
        Paul

  • That’s concerning… why would the apps be removed that fast by Apple?
