  • this is the desktop version, but it looks and sounds the same…

  • I like the sounds, but I can’t help thinking that I should be able to find all of those within the thousands of presets I have in the Synthmaster “Everything iOS bundle”.

  • Calise de marde, iPad only. 😬 This would've been a fun rompler to mess with on my iPhone and iPad.

  • 'Lightweight' - 2.5GB :|

  • Only iPad and 2,5Gb :s

  • lol @ 2.5 gigs- absolutely absurd

  • @Loups @x23 @egobeats Yeah, 2.5gb even on a 1TB iPad is a huge ask. It's not like these sounds are "Beathawk/Korg Module Pro"-quality. https://schristiancollins.com/generaluser Better off using this SoundFont instead for the "General MIDI" sound. This soundfont is also included in KQ Sampei and Kirastudio (albeit an earlier version, but nothing says you can't load the current version into either of those).

  • Tbf I was just being facetious re the size because of their 'lightweight' claim - it's big but it's quality, and there's a lot of character in these sounds to justify the GBs. Very specific sonic territory for those who miss crappy home keyboards from back in the day.

  • 2.5gb? Psssghh, y’all ever get on the Neo-Soul keys bus?

Lightweight probably refers to CPU use which is unrelated to disk space required. Romplers often use a lot of disk space.

I was playing around with the NSK free version when I fat fingered the IAP and apple didn’t believe me I guess when I reported it “purchased by accident” so I own it now (at least it was during a sale). To be honest, they’re actually pretty damn nice e pianos! Lotta room for customization. If they weren’t IAA I’d probably use them a lot more often.

  • Anyone tried its sister app, Fuego: Latin Music Instrument?

    Also $5.99 USD

I’m really interested in this but would like to see a good video first to see it in action on an iPad. It never ceases to amaze me when devs release apps without an instructional video.

Picked it up out of curiosity as I've been enjoying Cheap Keys. It's about what you'd expect for 200 mostly acoustic instrument sounds in under 3GB - ok, not amazing. One sample set (Piano Studio) is bugged and crashes the app. I'm getting more value out of the MIDI clips tbh - picking up some modern Latin chops, great fun.

    Thanks for the honest report.

So, does it have MIDI out, where we can send those modern Latin chops to other things?

Exactly, that “SpiceLab” synth, that they’re asking $45 for, is another example of this. No sound demos at all, and not a single video clip on the entirety of YouTube. = no sale!

  • Anyone have any guesses where the sounds in these apps would come from? Are they just collections of samples or soundfonts available free online? I wish there was a bit more info on their provenence.

  • The description mentions ‘drag and drop’ midi patterns. But i can’t figure out how to drag these patterns into my DAW. I’ve tried it in several DAWs, but drag-and-drop of these patterns doesn’t seem to work for me. Has anyone figured out how this actually works?

I don't think it does work, I asked them about it and they said they'd check. They maybe didn't implement it properly in the iOS version. It also doesn't currently send midi out at all, that's another thing that should be implemented ASAP

Thanks Gavin. Yeah, i just noticed that midi didn’t work either. Bummer. Really hoping too that they will fix these issues.
