Anyone have or have used one of these?

Thought it would be kitsch o try and put my stuff on tape. Any suggestions for a cassette recording option?

  • Been a long time since I last used a Tascam 4-track tape recorder. I'm following this thread now to see what replies pop up, because I may want to buy one myself.

If I remember correctly that app TAPESCAM was made as a recreation of the audio flavor of these portastudios. Could always use that as a digital equivalent while you mull over picking up one of the actual units (they got pretty hard to find and expensive when that mkgee guy got big, not sure what the current market looks like tho)

  • Had one just like that in the late 90s. The bigger ones were more interesting since they had a variable tape speed or pitch control. Quickly bought an PCI audio interface and said goodbye to tape.

On the iPad or PC, Caelum Audio make some nice stuff Link.
