I want to 'start' loopy pros clock from and sync with a song playing in Stage Traxx 4

I've enabled Stage Traxx 4 as a (Virtual Midi In) MIDI Clock source, and enabled Sync Start/Stop.
I've enabled Virtual MIDI Ports, and set Sync Mode to MIDI Clock in Stage Traxx 4. I've also setup a MIDI source in LP for ST4, and created a ShowMidi destination for it, so I can see midi messages arriving in LP from ST4. When I start playing a song in ST4, LP detects the Tempo. But ST4 never seems to send a Start message. I've configured ST4, to send a CC message at the start of the song, and LP will respond to that, However, there are some caveats that make this approach a bit problematic, and may indicate a bug in LP.

Has anyone else found a solution to this or have any ideas?

Can you explain the "caveats ... that may indicate a bug in LP"?

That one will probably be easier to get to the bottom of than trying to deal with a midi message that never gets sent. It would be good to know if there's some kind of a bug in any case.

Does Stage Traxx support Ableton Link?

Post screenshots of your sync setup in loopy pro and in stagetraxx.

Also run streambyter as a standalone app and put it in monitor mode.

Make it stagetraxx’s sync destination. Start and stop stagetraxx transport. Look in streambyter’s event display. Scroll to the top. Is there a clock start event?

  • The solution was to add the 'START' message to midi@play
