Drum pad sampler thing?

I've got an idea about sampling my typewriter and creating some beats using the samples, what app would be most suitable? I'm looking for an app that lets me quickly sample one-shots and then play them on a pad layout. Some sort of sequencer would be cool too.

  • Werkbench is great for just this sort of thing. The sequencer is a ton of fun and it is wicked easy to make samples right on the fly even.

  • Oh, I forgot about Werkbench! I have it installed so I'll need to try making some typewriter beats with it.

  • I do not honestly know how I had over looked this one until just the other day. I have been having a blast with it though.

  • I like the audiobus option for sampling drumjam pads to the sequencer also because the sequencer in workbench is such a cool one. Chaining and unchaining, filters, volume control pitch ect. It really is very capable. for under seven dollars you can not go wrong on this one.

  • That sounds fun! And don't worry, more options and opinions are always welcome, synthandson!

  • RealBeat seems good, never seen it before! Just remembered that there's Triggler too, I've made some fun beats with that.

  • beat machine, and it's cheap too

  • Nanostudio or beatmaker will give you more robust sequencers at the expense of more sampling overhead.

  • Beatmaker or yellofier might be good for this also, yellofier you could just record in the typerighter sounds and it will chop it right up for you in to the individual samples

I don't think beat machine has a sampler in it just a player? That is why I mentioned Werkbench and luckily it was already in the stable so I am wondering how it works out? On a side note I would like to seebeat machine get a proper sampler, I dont recall even seeing this app until you mentioned it.

  • I've started working on something with Werkbench, Cubasis and Effectrix involved now. It's fun and interesting! Might post the result later?

  • Egoist, but for pad playback you would need to tap the slices.

you can use audiocopy or audio share to record with, it doesn't sample internally like the impc pro but it's almost as quick.
