KORG Gadget 3 - gadgets not available?

I am trying to load gadgets, that according to Korg, that if they are in Korg Module, they are available in KORG Gadget.

This is on iOS on iPad.

However, while this is true for standalone Gadget, they are not available in the plugin version. And with no way to reinstall purchases etc in the VST plugin (IE running in a host) I am at a loss to why these do not show.

Any ideas folks?

this IS on iPad, and not AUM. It's another host.

  • Don't know if that's your problem, but if you go to advanced settings you can remove the gadgets, that come as additions to auv3s you purchase. Maybe you accidentally did that and can reactivate them?

  • @pax-eterna
I assume you have the Module app installed on your iPad?
Then they should all show up under “Module” in your host. Not as separate gadgets.

If you look at the ** section it clearly states these are available to Gadget....

And I DO have the latest fully authorised version of Module, all paid for.

As I wrote, they DO show up in the stand alone Gadget, but do not in the plugin version being used in the host. Well I assume it's a V ST3 plug?? Mebbe it's the full app with all the controls missing. In any case none of the above appear.

I am now awaiting responses that tell me to contact Korg, well I would ,except it takes weeks for them to get back, and I want to set these up now!

  • Uhhh, those gadgets don't appear as AUv3, because Korg Module Pro is the AUv3 plugin. In Gadget, Module Pro is split up into multiple gadgets for whatever odd reason, but Module Pro is the full package that can be used externally in any other host like Cubasis 3, Logic Pro, AEMS, etc.

  • 🤷‍♂️

  • Now, hoping that the original question has been answered, I am actually curious about the desktop version.

There’s no Korg Module on Desktop, are Salzburg, Firenze and others available when you buy Korg Gadget? What about the other hardware-inspired gadgets like Montpellier and Lexington?

Does anyone know of a complete table comparing what’s available on iOS, Desktop, and since I’m already asking for a lot here Nintendo Switch also?

hmmm, not sure about that either- none of those appear in Module Pro either, well not named as such.... and Module pro is NOT available within KORG Gadget.

Just to be clear clear it states "In KORG Gadget 3 , if Module Pro is installed, you will be able to use this gadget."

Do you actually own Module Pro and Gadget? If so would you care to try, please? I'd be keen to see the result.

All of your IAP purchases within Module Pro should appear in the Module Pro AUv3 and in the six Module Pro-compatible gadgets within Gadget. Salzburg are where all the "acoustic" pianos reside. Montreal is for the electric pianos. Alexandria is for the vintage organs. Firenze is for the clavinovas. Fairbanks is for the digital synth sounds. And Glasgow is for everything else basically.

You can only find these six gadgets within Korg Gadget itself, not as AUv3s. For the AUv3, Module Pro is what you use. It has all the sounds the six Module Pro-compatible gadgets have combined. And the sounds in Module Pro are categorized by instrument type and by packs. They aren't categorized as nicely in Gadget within the six Gadgets as they are in the Module Pro AUv3. The names of the gadgets don't appear in the Module Pro AUv3, but all the sounds do.

    Does this help?

Thanks - Yeah I understand they are not AUv3's in themselves, it's Korg say they are available in Gadget??
All the IAP's in Module are indeed there as expected. I am just trying to understand how I load these into KORG Gadget which IS available without needing (IE not needing the Module Auv3 to be loaded in the host) Module loaded in the hosting app.

The six gadgets are NOT available in Gadget when it is loaded into the hosting app, they ARE available in Gadget standalone.

Assuming you are talking about iOS based in your comments above, Korg Module will be accessible in 3 ways:

1 - you open the app directly and play there.
2 - you load it as an AUv3 plugin in your host of choice (Drambo, AUM, Loopy Pro, Logic, as long as it supports AUv3). The host should list it as Korg Module and not as individual gadgets
3 -in Korg Gadget, and only in Korg Gadget, new Gadgets are installed when Module is installed in the same device. This is the same as with Electribe Wave or iMono/Poly, which also add new gadgets.

Note that iOS does not support VST plugins, those are meant for PC, Mac and Linux. On iOS you have IAA (Inter-App Audio, which is not commonly used in newer apps) and AUv3 (Audio Unit v3, which is Apple’s newer standard).

If you mention VSTs it will cause confusion since Gadget does have a VST version which is only sold for PC and Mac.

    1. yep
    2. yep it does
    3. module and gadget are on the same device

So, based on that, is there anything specific that’s causing you problems or that you are unable to do with Korg Module?

Because that is how it is, Alexandria, Firenze, Salzburg, Montreal and Glasgow only exist inside Gadget, but any sounds and IAPs are accessible both in Korg Module (standalone or as a plugin) and in these gadgets.

nope I can run Module and Gadget fine and dandy....trying to understand why when Korg clearly state when both apps (G and M) are installed on the same device those gadgets above are available in gadget, and they are....but they actually do not appear in the list of gadgets in the Gadget AUv3 running inside the hosting app.

I mean, I don't want to have to set up a link between the hosting app and Gadget standalone running in the background JUST to access these four gadgets in the host.

  • But Gadget itself does not work as an AUv3.

Gadget 3 exposed the gadgets as AUv3 plugins, so you can use Santa Ana, or Recife as AUv3, not Gadget.

  • You have Gadget as Inter-App Audio.

And then, when I open it in AUM, I see all gadgets, including the ones from Module Pro!

Maybe let’s go in a different direction: what are you trying to achieve?

You want to use a specific sound in a specific host? What sound from which pack or instrument, in which host?

Btw, I’m sleepy, my typos are piling up, it’s 3am and I’m on mobile. Tomorrow morning I’ll check the thread again.

That may be the issue too...the host (Camelot Pro) does not allow IAA apps. Will investigate that side of it further- thanks for your patience and assistance!

I get it now, all you get is"access" to the gadgets within the app. See, it lists under the Plugins folder simply as a Korg folder and then within that are the gadgets available. So that is what they are not available in the host I'd suggest. No IAA versions.

And tbh, if AUM allowed direct loading and saving of audio backing tracks as part of a session without needing a complementary app, and allowed a user to use PDF charts (as Camelot Pro does) - Session is called a scene in Camelot - I'd be using AUM every day of the week!!!!

Afaik they are all included on desktop. As well as their IAPs (sound packs, etc) with exception of the Ivory Mobile Grand and American D piano expansions in Salzburg:

    Comparison chart at the bottom.

Nintendo Switch version has 16 gadgets, plus Ebina and Otorii as DLC.

Wow, for 149 EUR on sale that seems like an absurdly good value for the amount of content if one wants to move between Desktop and iOS.

And the Switch one seems like it'd be worth it just for the fun factor of using the joycons.

Right. You are not using Gadget in Camelot Pro, you are just able to use some of the gadgets that are published as AUv3. You can also use Module as AUv3, directly, not via its appearance in Gadget.

Yes, with all Module packs and gadget IAPs already included, it is good value.
Bear in mind, unlike Gadget iOS, future upgrades are not free.

If I had a desktop/laptop, I'd probably get Gadget as well as the other Korg vst plugins. As it stands, I'm not interested in a desktop/laptop environment. :) Ymmv.
