Video..EGLM1-LM1 Drum Machine, Demo and tutorial for iPad
Oh I so wished this worked properly, it would make my day, the Linn is one of my all time favorite drum machines, I love the sound, very distinctive. To be fair this is pretty good, but does have a couple of issues that should be sorted out, then this will be a really great app

good video as always! It's a shame it has to many bugs, or I would be buying it...
I'm sure it will all be fixed very soon, I heard the dev is on the case with the bugs
This should go in my essential 80's app list :-)
This app is universal now.
A thread-bump from eons back: has anyone got this app to work?
I’ve yet to write the developer @ElliottGarage but can’t get past the invisible 2nd bar issue / setting pattern length in a quantized way. Does anyone have any scoop? Thanks in advance if so!
I don't understand the issue. Don't you just use song mode? Even without song mode, I have no problem switching between patterns with quantization or with two measure patterns.
I'm using the AU version. Is this maybe a standalone issue? I don't recall problems with that either but haven't gone back to try just now.
Heya @wim I could’ve explained that better:
Standalone mode: the pattern length default is two bars but unless I’m missing it there’s no way to view / edit the 2nd bar.
There’s instruction on setting pattern length (I’m trying for one bar) but for the life of me can’t figure that one out either.
Very well could all be user error on my part but I’ve read the (very short) manual several times over and so far no success.
Oh that.
You probabably don’t even want to go there. It’s just really, really bad design. Stick to two bar patterns. The way to (try to) set a pattern length is to hold down the length button while the pattern is playing, then hit stop exactly where you need it to stop, Just about impossible, and then, I’m not sure there’s a way to do anything but keep on shortening the pattern. I’ve never known a way to escape from that ever tightening noose other than reloading a saved pattern.
But, viewing/editing the second bar is easy, just tap the 1 BEAT button. It’ll change to 2 BEAT, and you’ll see the 2nd measure. Tap that same button to return to the first measure. The labeling of that button is very confusing.
Tremendously helpful and thanks as your advice brings this app up to Useable. I’m mystified though: the metronome choice makes No sense, the voices are mislabeled (at least on iPhone) and the pattern length setting is on par with cutting physical tape(!)
All this is not to bash the app as I appreciate it for what it Can do but will appeal to @ElliottGarage to service some of these points as well as a couple on the EGDR808 as well.
Thanks again Wim!
I think the idea was to pay homage to the hardware - warts and all. That pattern length thing is just too whack though, I gotta say.
Which iPhone model? The labels are OK on my 7s.
6s+ here. All voice names are inverted so the top row is actually the bottom row and vice versa.
I’m noticing some unfinished business in EGDR909 as well and am compiling a list for the developer should he want to tend. The 808 has the complete voices on the iPad version but not the iPhone. (No 808 congas? Sacrilege!)
I totally get the true to retro form idea and appreciate it yet some here feels mid way in that regard - for example if there’s the modern take of a grid-view editor why is there no ‘copy pattern’ option? Still love these - rough around the edges and all.
Heh, I’m still fond of them too. I keep them around even though they’re just sample based and I have all the same kits in EG Pulse.
(Bumping, even though its old thread, but app is still available):
Did the Swing parameter ever worked? For me, all patterns sound the same regardless of how much percentage the Swing is set to....
