Looking for the best circuit-bent/glitchy type of AUv3 plugins in 2026...

So, recently inspired by BT's incredible "This Binary Universe", I'm looking for glitchy circuit-bent type apps (instruments and effects). I don't have GAS, but rather want to see what's out there I may already have (and perhaps get a new one or two).

I know Bleass' Granulizer is one such app capable of glitching things up, but what else is there out there in 2026 I may have not considered? :) Many thanks in advance, friends.

  • Sometimes I get glitchy patterns out of Fauve.

And just weird sounds out of Combustor

  • Cool! I have both! I'll make use of those tomorrow for some experiments. ☺️

  • GlitchCore
    Replicant 3

Ah good, I do have Glitchcore. Not sure about Replicant (I'm not at my iPad at the moment 😅 ), but will consider getting that if I don't have it yet. Cheers, friend. ❤️

  • I recall Sonifi, which was made by Sonik Architects with BT. THey got bought by iZotope but seems the app is no more (but maybe you have it lol)

I think it became Stutter Edit 2 on desktop, but cannot seem to find it on ios.

Interesting. I never had Sonifi, but hopefully Izotope will bring Stutter Edit and Breaktweaker to iOS. 🙏

  • Since meek already mentione Fauve, I would say you could use other K-devices apps together.
Secta can do cool stuff with amplitude/gate/envelope - Magma is a nice microlooper thingie - TATAT may do some interesting things with midi - and finally WOV can work too with envelope,

    Other options:

    • Borderlands can b e interesting with it's granular capabilities
    • Kymatica's Sector is amazing with all its options
    • Any slicer like ReSlice, Segments or the one inside Egoist can be loads of fun
    • Flux Mini or Pro from Caelum can shape your sounds really well (there are the free ones if you didn't buy the paid ones)
  • @rottencat Update - I do have Replicant 3. Happy days!

@senhorlampada I definitely should complete my K-Devices collection if there's something I haven't purchased yet. These plugins seem more than adequate for my needs. :) I did consider using Borderlands granular, but it's not AUv3 (at least at the moment). However it is a great tool I will consider using. :) I think I could use the slicer in FL Studio Mobile (which is where my sound experiments will basically end up on audio tracks), but those other plugins seem great too. :)

Also, I've had the Flux plugins since years ago. :) I...mostly used them for emulating sidechain pumping as well as Trance gating in Cubasis 3 when producing EDM and such. 🫣 Lol. I didn't consider using them more experimentally. That makes sense!

I have most of these plugins already, but none of them were downloaded onto my iPad (or the universal ones on iPhone for that matter). It's basically me rediscovering things I've purchased but never used (or barely used). This is so exciting. :) Thanks all.

  • Beatcutter, Loop Mangler, NoiseSpace, Glitchscaper

    Basically anything by Igor Vasilev

AFAIK, imaginando's FRMS and the IAPs are on heavy discount at the moment, I reckon it would be right up your street. The IAP sound packs are top notch and you can preview them properly on soundcloud, here's the one I've just got on sale... FRMS is MPE capable as well so if you have any MPE controller you can have a lot of fun organically shaping sounds in real time. I've had it downloaded for ages but only just rediscovered it myself.... There be lots of buried treasure on our iPads from old FOMO sales ;-)

  • GlitchStep and all of that dev's stuff is a good start.

  • Y-y-you’re w-w-wel-wel-wel-c-c-come!

    🙂

  • Instrument wise, SynthStamp has a circuitbending section built into the Casio portion. Fun stuff

  • Effectrix and Egoist are good for this sort of thing.

Transit 2 is awesome for sound processing. But it depends on workflow as it can introduce a ton of latency. Oh and the UI has lame tiny elements. :/

  • Love glitchy stuff.
INS: SKIIID, Fractal Bits, Relic Flow, Relic Waves, ID700 (sound can change dramatically with each new keypress), Egoist, elsa, FRMS, sEGments, iDensity, etc.
FX: Effectrix, Looperator, Replicant, iDensity, GlitchCore, BandShift, BandDelay, etc.

Haven't bought much in the past 2 years, so missing a lot.

  • I second iDensity. Can get quite rough sounding and you can modulate pretty much everything. Also Igor’s apps, and the ones by Alexei Nadzharov(sp?) - for example Skippodisk.

You might get some useful sounds from Fluss too if you keep the grains sparse and the envelopes pointy.

1st place, for me, and not mentioned SCATTERBRAIN alone, or with Multibus out to separate channels to use with your own bitcrusher or whichever effect you want.

2nd place silo, fauve, glitchcore, sugarbytes effects

    Stand alone glitch machine: egoist

  • Thank you all for the replies. I have plenty of glitchy goodness to investigate here. ☺️

  • Also - I don’t think it’s been mentioned yet - GSDSP MagicBlur.

  • I think...in order to simplify everything, I'll probably stick with K-Devices and Replicant 3 for now. 😅 Lol. Thanks though, my friends. You all mean a lot to me.

  • That newish klevgrand parrot app

Ooo, I didn't consider that one. :) I'll take a peek at that.

  • Resonators ( mainly )

I always use the waveguide ( I should use Combuster )

    Theres shapers.

    Decimator.

Theres also some Fur Generator ( not used here )

But you kind of need it as a send for drums.

Its better if you can dial back the bassier inputs, rather than just resonator on a drum bus.

I see someone say they need more Cowbell, so made the Euclidean drums with 16 Cowbell tracks.

  • Just get Logic Pro. There’s enough glitches in there to keep you busy for ages (until Apple fixes them…ha).

    lol

  • If we were on Desktop I’d say I Wish by Polyverse. Who are the Drambo heads that can whip that up?
