Line 6 sonic port? Good? Bad?

Musicians friend is blowing them out...how are they?

  • Ok. Better input and output options than Apogee Jam (no headphone jack), but the Sonic Port is iOS only, no USB.

  • I'm happy with mine. build quality is good and has replaceable cable.

  • I was thinking of this one too, but wondered if it would be better to save for the vx version. I like the fact that you don't need a powered USB hub.

  • How much was the blowout price? I looked just now and it's $99 or $89 refurbished.

  • Never mind, I see, there's a discount once it's in your cart. That's a good deal if you don't have an interface, but I have an apogee one and other needs. If it charged the ios device while using it I would have bought it though to use live, although my ipad batteries always make it through a show with plenty to spare.

  • Good and comes with a free effects app

  • It has been a while, but I bought and returned one (Sonic Port) within an hour. Too lofi and limited. For $25 it is tolerable, anything more than that it is overpriced. It's really best as a super basic interface for a guitar into the iPad.

  • Is it better than any headphone interface like Ampkit and jamup plug?

  • How does it compare to Irig hd?

  • it's much better than headphone interfaces. Personally I don't find it lo-fi, in fact it's pretty much identical to the instrument input on my 2i4

  • Deja Vu from the FB musician group. Just get it: it's cheap, solid, has stereo option and sounds good.

  • The thing I wonder about is "solid," a lot if reviews seem to indicate poor quality control and that many of them suddenly stopped working. I'm sure the sound is fine though. Couldn't be any worse than my Alesis io4, which sounds fine.

  • Thanks,,,btw musicians friend list it as a restock..does it mean it's new or pre used? Also how does it compare to irig hd

  • It means it was returned to them, maybe refurbished, but definitely returned. An far as how it compares to irig HD, the irig uses the ipad headphone jack. If you need an interface, why not try it out? If it sucks, return it.

  • Is it safe to buy a refurbished?

I've had good luck with refurbished products, though it depends on the manufacturer. The assumption being that if it came back to the manufacturer, that any flaw was fixed and that it was retested - possibly to the same, or higher degree as any original tests done on a new product - hopefully to keep it from coming back again.

I haven't bought a refurbished item that ever felt used, though, other than they sometimes show up in OEM (white) packaging.

As long as it has the same return policy and warranty, I'd go for it.

I know the Pro does, but I think the HD is a 30-pin/lightning connection.

  • A lot of refurbished products are just returns within the 14 days no quibble returns policies. This means that the box has been opened, used once or twice and then simply sent back. They mostly come with a full warranty and with its own money back guarantee so you should be fine.

Sorry, I meant it uses the iPad headphone jack for output, sonicport has it's own headphone and line outputs.

Nope - my misinterpretation - you stated correctly.
