audio evolution mobile question edit: nevermind

So I'm trying to relearn AEM, I need the song position pointer function it provides.

I've loaded Hammerhead drum machine, recorded a beat. Now I want to open Hammerhead to change the samples. Pressing the tiny keyboard icon on the channel strip only allows me to change Hammerhead to a different app but doesn't open the Hammerhead interface.

If I try the same button press on a track with ANALOGy8 loaded, I get a screen with a huge keyboard and with the synth on top.

Neither option is good for tweaking synths. I just want to see the au3 interface of the synth or drum machine I have loaded. I'm sure it's simple in some way.

I keep installing/uninstalling AEM because I don't find the UI intuitive. I couldn't find the answer in the manual, I'm probably looking in the wrong places. Help me please.

Edit: nevermind. I just reloaded my saved project (a whole 2 tracks!) and the MIDI is gone. So I tried to load one of the autosaved versions and AEM crashed.

I think I've wasted enough of my day off on this. Apologies for the grumpiness.

  • Once you’ve pressed the keyboard icon on the main page it takes you to a page with the upper part of the AU and an onboard input device, usually a keyboard. You remove the keyboard by pressing the AU button at the top of the page which takes you too… the AU! That allows you to toggle between the keyboard and the AU when setting up the instrument.

Thanks so much for the reply. The problem is none of that comes up with Hammerhead loaded. With Hammerhead, pressing the keyboard icon brings up the dialog to choose another instrument.

Use a midi instrument track, not a drum track. 😎✌🏼

  • oh wow, @anickt, I bet that's it!
