I don’t know how to describe this app.
Auto-wah,phaser,flanger,univibe,a mix of all this?
Anyway,great app.
I use it pre and post amplifier.
Mostly on ryhthm parts.
Thanks.

  • That’s what I’m talkin bout! Was hoping you’d post in regards to this one. Great riffs, app definitely has that Hendrix flange/univibe feel to it.
Also not sure whether it sounds better before or after the amp (both sound good haha). @quantovox what did you have in mind when building it?

Today is one of the hardest days being an AUv3 developer, the restraint to not post a certain Mr Krabs interview snippet in response to that question, is just unbearable :D

Seriously though, there was a single spark that resulted in this development, which was the rubber bass preset.
Then things kept escalating, as per usual...

Well for best results, just make sure to place it before creative effects and reverb (unless you're exploring the experimental side).

As for amps, both pre and post is fine. There were some early conclusions and recommendations, but it was deemed best to leave it open (and instead emphasize the question of long notes). Maybe time and additional feedback will add some clarity.

In any case perhaps the position setting should be reset for pre placement to keep things tidy and by the book.

  • I've recorded a bunch using Analogy synths and @ Quantavox plugins. Anytime I want a gnarly bass, RealPhase /Fettkraft is my go to.
If I want - vocody souund- Ring-o-tron, if I want unique vocal and drum design, Voxomat. Such a great body of work dude.

  • Sounds lovely @flo! Were you using the Pro or the non-Pro version of Melthaven for your demo?

    I use the pro version.
    Presets demo.
    Thanks a lot.

Makes sense! Guess it all depends what you’re going for. The “action” def seems subtler when put in front of the amp, but maybe that’s what you want! Almost like an “fx loop”, I usually put modulation stuff after the amp anyways. ios is nice like that 👍
Congrats on release sir! May the syrup flow!

    B) 👍

Lord Vader will no longer find our lack of syrup disturbing (or are we 10 days late for that?)

  • Great work @quantovox & nice demo @flo!
Can I set Melthaven in the way where the effect will affect only long notes and leave the short ones untouched?

Well... will invite you to TestFlight, so you can check it... there may be several answers to that question.

There's a preset called Short vs Long, that kind of does that.

But more precisely, what you can control is which end of the frequency range you want things to remain for short notes, before swinging towards the other end.

So you'll have frequencies carved out, but depending on your instrument and FX setup you may consider that one end to be kind-of-transparent. In some cases you can also fine-tune that (and coarse-tune :) ) and don't need to be at the absolute endpoint, but that may not help in this specific use case. Then again, it could. Now that's a lot of may's and kinds of :)

What could be more problematic is the possibility of phantom notes coming from long notes (as implied in the technical notes in the app description). That is also on a case-by-case basis, though if there isn't anything wild going on in the note decays and you're using good-quality equipment in the signal chain, there shouldn't be an issue...

  • @quantovox
