Neural Network generated Death Metal

This 24/7 live stream of generative technical metal music has been living in my head rent free for years now. I always remember it at odd hours of the night. It’s 85% nonsense but now and then something rises through that’s pretty badass sounding.

Interesting idea. When I think of metal music, I don’t think of anonymous servers generating random noise. I think of angry young men venting in front of a live audience. I don’t know much about the genre, but I knew a guy that truly lived the lifestyle. His name was Troy “Roach” Coates and his band Lungbrush. This is metal…

March 24, 2009. R.I.P. buddy. We miss you.

That’s definitely metal. I grew up in RVA, which had a huge hardcore metal scene when I was in high school/college. Roach and Lungbrush would’ve fit right in. RIP, always sad to lose a friend and musician. 🍻

  • This makes me really sad, I know this is the way time changes things….but

in the 90ths we had such a regional strong and colorful Hard‘n Heavy / Metal Community, vistining us for gigs on smaller and bigger Locations overall here in the country.

We had a lot of smaller and bigger also Bands in the studio, trying produce their stuff as good as possible a very long time.

One of these very last so called metal survivers told me very proud two years ago,
His friend needs no studio support anymore, he had released 75 metal songs in a year … by using,
you know it already - Suno.

There are maybe a few heads left …. and left from this era is also this strange you tube channel above mixing copied metal fragments into something weird - this is something young angry man should shout about again 😉🤠

Trust me, if I’m reaching for some metal to listen to, it’s gonna be Lamb of God, Cannibal Corpse, Tool, August Burns Red, or something similar but not this channel. This is white noise with a breakdown here and there.

It’s kind of interesting this is one of the first exposures I had to generative AI music. I guess it kind of makes sense - if I played Cannibal Corpse and this back to back my wife probably couldn’t tell the difference.
