FL Studio actually coming to OSX soon(ish). iOS Next?
Kinda OT but this caught my eye today. https://support.image-line.com/knowledgebase/base.php?ans=114
tl;dr: FL Studio for OSX is in active development. The reason for the decade delay: FL is largely written in Delphi. Delphi has always been Windows only and has only recently provided a way to compile to OSX. That was the reason behind statements like "FL Studio will never be a Mac app"—not so much religion but technical impossibility. Since Delphi->OSX is now possible and Mac sales continue to rise, Imagine Line has a dedicated team going after it.
Part of the process, according to that post, is decoupling a whole lot of code (16 years!) from directly communicating with Windows APIs (instead of asking for the Windows task bar directly, it will need to ask for a generic 'task bar handler' and that handler will ask for the appropriate OS taskbar). Additionally, via different post, they're dumping all bitmapped graphics and moving to vector graphics (always smooth).
That stuff, along with Delphi's new "Compile to iOS" tools makes me think that Image Line could develop an actual FL Studio app for iOS (vs rebranded Music Studio) in the not too distant future. Here's to hoping.

No idea if they will, but I could see them porting FL Studio Groove to iOS.

They already have FLStudio Mobile: www.image-line.com/flstudiomobile/

I gave up hope for a while about Groove going to iOS... But this... restored my faith

Yep... but that's Music Studio rebranded and slightly modified ans FL Studio...
The desktop version is a different beast
I met with some of their developers. They're smart people

I had forgotten all about the FLStudio Mobile's Music Studio roots. Thanks for the clarification!

Any beans to spill? You don't have to spill them, just wanna know if you have any.
Hi everyone If the desktop version of FLS ever came to iOS, it'd be a no brainer insta-buy for me! it's still my fave daw for drawing automation & has come a long way over the years...
I'd be quite happy to have most of the functionality of Fruity Loops v2 on iOS. I started using it at 1.2(!) but haven't used it since moving to a Mac (FL6 or so).
Haha! I can't remember when I bought FLS, but it was either version 3 or 4, still have an old FL Studio bible with loads of underlined notes in it
How good is Fl Studio Mobile compared to apps like Gadget and Nanostudio?
@Hex047 Of those 3 choices, it would be last on my list. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's basically (as @syrupcore said) a reskinned version of Music Studio.

FL Studio is a case study in how not to do cross-platform. One has only to look at their previous aborted attempts at OS X or the strategy they chose for iOS...
Basically for their OS X port (based on a WINE-like platform) they said it's just an experiment, there is no support, there are no guarantees, even they don't know if they were going to launch it.
I have a question for people who own FLStudio.
I have an IPad3 with Auria, NS, Caustics, Gadget and many other Synths.
I noticed that FLStudio11+All Plugins costs similar to IPad Air2 128GB.
If you had the choice what would you choose (considering Auria will get Midi)?
@Shay It depends how important mobility is to you. I like having both an iPad and FL Studio, but neither is top of the line. I wouldn't buy the ALL Plugins bundle or an Air 2 128GB. You could have a first gen iPad Air and the Signature bundle with money to spare.
Thanks @telecharge.
I do love mobility, however the source of this checkup comes from pain.
I added a single FabFilter MB plugin to Auria's master yesterday and got more than 100% CPU.
My 16GB IPad force me to download and remove my songs to free space for new ones.
I dream on one machine, which is strong enough to perform the mix with several plugins and doesn't break CPU each second.
This machine will and contain all my songs and I'll be able to return to each song anytime and even master their output to a specific volume level.
My two options is my PC and/or IPad. I know the signature bundle is great, however there are so many crazy plugins and each one costs like couple of IPad's app
Edit: Shouldn't I prefer Air2, which has 2GB memory?
@Shay said:
In theory, yes, but I've yet to see anything that suggests Auria is performing much better on Air 2. So, you're hedging your bets that apps will be optimised and features will be added. There's always next years iPad, and possibly the Pro.
I would say iPad Air2 128 fits the bill if you're prepared to pay the price. That 2GB is actually important when it comes to running multiple apps at the same time (Audiobus or IAA) and the 128 should be enough for a whole lot of songs.
@raz did you read the link?
Thanks @raz.
I saw somewhere on this forum that the 128 has issues with the memory and suggested 64 instead. Does anyone know if these are real and documented issues?
@syrupcore I read the link you posted about the new port. Or do you mean another link?
And why do you ask?
@raz, sorry, I should have quoted your comment I was replying to. This:

This port has nothing to do with any of the previous cross platform experimentation. The earlier attempts were basically attempts at cheap fixes. Didn't work but is it wrong to try?
They were technically tied to Windows from the start—not really their fault. It started in a non-cross-platform language and once you're 500,000-2,000,000 lines of code in, switching languages just isn't practical. Now that Delphi seems to reliably compile to OSX, an actual cross platform port is at least possible. It remains to be seen if they a) devote enough resources to it and b) if Delphi is actually fully up to the task.
Yes, good luck to them, it seems they're finally doing the right thing.
IMO the previous attempt at Mac should have been kept quiet and done together with a subset of interested users. It gave an impression of being non-committal and basically not having a real plan in place.
On mobile they put their brand on something that has no real connection to ImageLine. To me this is a red flag for a software company.
All in all, they didn't inspire confidence. It was a failure of communication and marketing, not a technical one.
I am not sating I will never buy one of their products, they don't use bullshit DRM like many others and that's a plus.
Hopefully Image line ports the desktop version of FL Studio, that Music Studio App doesn't look nice at all.
They've released videos of the vectorized beta. Looks pretty great. Here's a video showing support for multi-touch. The hope continues...
I'm glad they went with a native port instead of using a wrapper, altho you could use some windows vst's in the wrapped version. Haven't used flstudio properly in a while but love how it's matured, always found it a pleasure to use, especially for drum beats, plus the automation was something I missed after moving to logic.
You used to be able to load flstudio as a vst in another daw, would love it, if this was still possible but as a audio unit instead. That last video you posted syrupcore, has made me think if its worth getting a multitouch monitor to use with osx yosemite and windows 8 on my mbp, looked fantastic using a larger multitouch screen on the mixer.
