Yes, but unfortunate it’s not auv3.

    It is AUv3. 🙂

You had me worried for a second, but you can see it running as an AUv3 in the first 30 seconds of the walkthrough video.

Maybe the App Store listing made that unclear, but yes, standalone and AUv3 are both included.

Matt, I mean that Arturia Prophet VS is unfortunate not auv3🙂 It is a synth I had back in the 90s, it would be cool to have that one as well in auv3😎
Anyway, looking forward to your Prophet 5, you have my preorder!

    (thanks @Grandbear )

Have you managed to fix the bug I find in all your synths? If you hold down a key while changing the waveform then you can a hung note and have to quite the app.

Dang! Sorry you’re running into that.

I haven’t been able to reproduce it, and I haven’t seen any reports of it, but I believe you. From your other posts, it sounds like you’re seeing it in both J6 and VIRAL Synth?

Can you please give me a little more context so I can try to track it down:

What iOS version and device are you using?
Are you playing from the onscreen keyboard, a wired MIDI controller, Bluetooth MIDI, or a host like AUM/GarageBand/Logic? Also, does it happen in standalone, AUv3, or both?

If I can reproduce the exact setup, hopefully I can fix this edge case for you.

Yes, J6 and Viral have the bug

    iPadOS 26.5

Onscreen keyboard, both standalone and AUv3 (hosts keyboard). Tested in GR2 and AUM.

It only seems to happen with OSC/DCO 1.

    Here’s a video

Edit: A bit more testing. It’s not just changing the waveform. I also get the bug if enabling the arpeggiator while holding the key.

I can confirm I’m seeing this in J6, but not in J8 or Pro-A5 beta

Thanks for confirming, I don’t have those two so couldn’t test.

  • So I’ve been playing around with the beta, specifically creating pads. I’ve always wanted pads that sound like this tutorial and never was able to get there:
    (Yes, I know it’s a Prophet 6 :) I don’t know the difference apart from the hpf)

I had this video in one headphone and Pro-A5 in the other, and they sound basically identical as I dialled it in. It’s absolutely brilliant.

I’ve been playing it with my digital piano for extra wood. Definitely affects the sound 😉

Also, is it me or does filter tracking parameter do nothing. Tested in J6 app.

  • It’s certainly one of the best looking iOS synths.

For £5 it’s an absolute no brainer. Less than the cost of a pint these days!

  • The anticipation is killing me. I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about a synth app but this is that one synth I have been waiting for on any platform.

It is working. If you crank up the resonance you can hear it better, but it is subtle.

Same…this has been my dream synth for years

  • Is it out yet?

    How about now?

    Now?

  • The US AppStore says it's expected June 4, tomorrow.

That was going to be my original post yesterday but I felt stupid when I typed it. With this synth I now know how the zenology thread guys felt.

  • @AnalogMatthew let me know when you have you seen the videos showing the bugs so I can delete them

  • This is one synth that many of us have been waiting for, and it seems it's going to kick ass! I also suggest a real proper SH-101 iOS version someday soon.

SH-101 is covered in the Zenology Model Expansions. I doubt that SH-101 will be available through Zenology GX as a model expansion, but maybe some presets? Roland hasn’t been very “explainy” about their plans, but Roland’s business model seems to be focused on offering virtual versions of all of their hardware. As with the P5, some careful tiptoeing would be necessary. IF an SH-101 were made, I would hope that it was offered with so many 21st C upgraded features that Roland couldn’t squawk about.

I can confirm, it sounds pretty amazing.

I can confirm, @TheAudioDabbler has a very inspirational bank in the app. Incredibly inspiring pads. Great for ambient

Will the pre-order price extend beyond June 4th, so that we can hear some demos first?

Several people have messaged me saying they want to get PRO-A5, but don’t have the extra cash right now.

I do want to raise the price soon, so hopefully this app can eventually break even. But I also really want to keep it affordable enough for almost anyone to try. This app is so different from other AudioKit synths.

If it helps, I’ll extend the $4.99 price for another week or two, while more videos and demos are coming out, so you can make a better decision before buying.

Thanks for this! You're super helpful. I love the video confirmation.

Just a couple of follow ups:
    1) What iPad is that?
    2) are you using the latest version of J6 (it should say 0.99.4 on the about page)

    Thanks!

It does very little on my real hardware, too. :D
But happy to extend the keytracking in J6 in the next upgrade... I'm happy to add these things to J6, as it was never meant to be an accurate emulation. So we can make it more fun

  • @AnalogMatthew how is the cpu load on this? heavier than Viral/Nerd? About the same?

Received, thanks again! And feel free to DM me directly or email me at matthew at audiokitpro.com
I do my best to make these apps the best I can for you all

  • I believe it's midnight in the UK, so the apps should start going out soon.

Here's an unlisted video from Red Sky Lullaby if you want to see his bank:

    @ 3:45 sold

  • Unlisted video by @MobyPixel

He starts demoing some Bank A presets around 10:48. And before that he demos a lot of nice dark Brass patches he made

He's not even using a keyboard w/ Aftertouch, so these can sound even better

BTW, a couple of beta testers mentioned the clicking.

Here's a synth fun fact: As mentioned in the first post, that's a feature, not a bug. 😁 On an accurate emulation, fast envelopes on this style of synth can click on attack and release, and that behavior is part of the classic sound. You can even hear Arturia’s official version doing the same thing in this demo.

AUv3 Host Memory-wise, it’s very light. You can run about 4 instances of PRO-A5 for less memory than 1 instance of J6 used when it first came out.

CPU-wise, it is running 10 voices with a desktop-class filter, so it’s heavier than Viral and Nerd, but still more CPU-friendly than J8, especially comparing both synths in unison mode.

  • Wow, I was able to download tonight even though I'm on the West Coast. This thing sounds fat and smooth.

Yup! I just made a new thread about its release …it’s really good so far !
