Loopy Masterpiece; work seems to be coming along....
I am very hopeful (no pressure) that this is at the top of my charts come this time next year. Also: still alive, less bollocks on the streets as regards hassle, and the as yet unfound perfect caramel milkshake. That'd be enough.

Now that is exciting.
When he shows the sequencing and MIDI automation at about 5:30... Oh yeah
And I just noticed there are MIDI loops, not just audio... Not sure how I missed that exciting tidbit in all the earlier videos
I just spent the better part of an hour the other day catching up with the last 5 or 6 of these videos. It's going to be out of control, people waiting for Auria/Gadget MIDI updates, Logic/Ableton/Reason ports etc should be licking their chops on this one.
Thanks to @Michael for making it so interesting to watch, asking for user feedback, and sharing his ideas, outlines, and sketches. There's so much to be said for this style of promotional video as opposed to say hyping your up coming release for weeks or months, and then not even end up supporting the basic features your user base is dying for.

We know what you're talking about! lol
So true!
While these videos have a promotional aspect that's not their main purpose. Mike is actively reading and replying to the comments and letting them influence the app's design. This is no crowdfunding campaign or PR stunt, he's really developing this thing in the open starting with the design phase.

I can vouch for that! Michael reminds me of Neo from the Matrix. When they are uploading training simulations to his brain and he just keeps them coming. "Hey Mikey, I think he likes it!"
@ringleader, I gotta say: this latest video where Mike shows the sequencing and stuff he added based on your ideas... wow. Thanks for your input! That is probably the most mind-boggling great new feature yet.
@Hmtx - Ha, thanks! Always focus your energy on what it is that only you can do, and offload the rest. Or in other words, create a preconfigured sequence track to do all this crappy busywork for me so I can just have fun rocking out? Hell yes!
But Michael really appears to have nailed the design. He absolutely has an eye for design and an amazing turnaround time from rough idea to concept, as these weekly updates prove. It's interesting and inspiring that he is allowing us to witness and be a part of his development process.
@Sebastian I'm sure you don't mean to, but you sound a tad defensive there. Absolutely no need. This is a great idea (product) from a credible source (you lot) and presented in a positive and cool manner (well done). When I stagger up to teach my history class at CalTechMIT (Bletchley Campus) covering this period of commercial development in a (finally) post-Fordian world I will have some of Mike's footage as a great example of the progress that was eventually made. He'll be long dead by then of course, but I guess we all will be....
Really looking nice. Thanks for the work and the open approach to development. I stated in other threads that I appreciate Loopy as a sketchtool, but this new version really seems to address some of the issues that kept me from using it more seriously. Keep up the good work!
Thanks heaps, guys!
(And thanks heaps for the ideas too: I'm pretty sure I'm getting the better deal here, with all that genius floating around out there!)
@Michael this all looks incredible! Loving the sequencing ideas, I assume we'll be able to record MIDI CCs on the fly as well? What about undo?
color me excited. Between this and Beatmaker III, 2015 could be a phenomenal year for iOS.
...as long as Apple doesn't muck it up.

Cool! Yeah, that's the idea - when setting up the MIDI Send action in there, you'll be able to set the destination, and the source for recording (it'll try to figure it out on its own, based on the name).
Undo, definitely.
Keeps getting better, and I love the user collaboration concept!
Looks like TCH created a sort of sequence tracks in hardware form. The competition is catching up! http://www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/musikmesse-2015-tc-helicon-voicelive-3-extreme-debuts-619453
Definitely looking great. I wonder if it supports different loop lengths a la loopy. I wasn't too sure about the automation part. It looked like she was playing to a pre recorded backing track with some lights coming on and going off occasionally. It doesn't seem to have that live show visual thing. She might just as well have had it playing back from her MP3 player.
While I'm tempted by all hardware solutions I also feel that ipad + loopy + controller will always be one step ahead with updates rolling out etc. Also having such a responsive developer right on the other end makes me feel more secure than dealing with a company when things go pear shaped.
I cannot tell if the looper is automatable, or just the effects. If so, and you can combine live loops with the backing tracks, then watch out!
After a little more digging, it seems that you cannot automate the looper. I had a VL3 and sold it because running the looper was just totally counter intuitive compared to how I have Loopy configured. And there is something about TCH gear that is "almost" but not quite right (for my uses). I've owned a lot of it and there has always been at least one quirky thing about each piece that I just couldn't deal with so I ended up selling it. Loopy ME is safe (for now at least)!
Sounds pretty smashing feature wise. Staring at the word EXTREME in 180pt font across the front is... well... they can do better.
Gary Cherone may approve, but I agree that it is fugly.
