How to create full copies of existing Loopy Pro project folders for musical experimentation

I have a subfolder with a bunch of projects and when I get together with some other musicians to experiment with ideas, I'd like to make a bunch of on-the-fly changes to these projects while we play and then easily access these updated projects later, but also keep my baseline projects untouched as they were before we got together.

Any reason prior to the get together I can't just duplicate that folder by copying and pasting it from within the Loopy directory on my iPad using the Files app, then renaming the copied folder to include the date of the get together. Would this make copies of the plugin instances/settings too? (ie: I'd like PluginInstanceA in the copied project to appear but be a copy of the plugin instance and settings from the baseline project, not a reference to the same PluginInstanceA that is in the baseline project)

Any insights you can provide would be appreciated before I start experimenting

Thanks

  • @danm : projects are self-contained. If you duplicate a folder of projects, changing the copies has no impact on the originals.

  • Thanks @espiegel123. In Files App on iPad, if I press and hold on the original LP subfolder and select Copy, then go to a new empty subfolder I created and long press (where I want to paste the original Loopy subfolder with my projects), I don't get a "Paste" option...any idea why this would be? Realize this is getting out of the realm of LP support, but not sure if it's something related to being in an applications folder when I'm doing this...Thanks

What you are talking about is unrelated to loopy. If the folder is empty you should be able to press anywhere and get Files’ popup . If there are items in the folder, you have to long press at the very bottom in list view or in blank space in icon view
