os 26 on ipad with external exfat – anyone know if works better than previously, or, same?

Hiya, has anyone had experience with os26 and using external drives that are exfat?

The prior os's did not love exfat at all, regularly corrupting data / indexing, and even though supposedly ipados doesn't need eject/unmount because the writing was a different kind of process to desktop that supposedly was finished when it said it was, our experiences suggest otherwise whereby the unplugged drive wasn't detected by other devices and also the ipad until repair could be done via desktop. I wonder is this different with 26? I have some apfs drives so can go between, but some exfat drives I can't switch yet, if these were more reliable I'd have stronger reason to update, which I'm still holding out on just a while longer. (Rule of thumb, if current setup works, stay a version behind, or at least wait 1 year.)

no problems or differences with iPadOS 26 or previous versions. I’m using Samsung SSD’s T5, T7 Shield, T9, and an SD card reader. Drives are exFAT formatted in professional cine cameras. (Tip for filmmakers: always format in camera, not in computer.)

Just make sure to use the correct cables and hubs, but that’s something you surely know already. When using a hub, connect the iPad first, then the power, before attaching drives, otherwise the drives may not be recognised.
