Riffpad is a thumb-first piano roll for sketching melodies fast on iPhone and iPad. Draw notes directly on the grid, nudge them into shape, loop ideas, and send them to MIDI gear or AUv3 instruments without opening a full desktop-style DAW.

Built for quick musical capture:

  • Place, move, resize, copy, paste, and delete notes with touch-first gestures
  • Keep melodies in key with scale highlighting, snap, and quantize controls
  • Loop short ideas, adjust tempo, and record simple live input
  • Use Core MIDI input/output with USB or Bluetooth MIDI devices

    This could be good but, yeah. I’m looking for something to enable my existing workflow, not a whole new host.

    Riffpad 1.1 adds an AUv3 MIDI Processor so you can run your piano-roll patterns inside compatible host apps. This update also adds starter patterns, clearer routing, a MIDI panic path, and editor polish.

    This has a far smaller feature set than Atom2, but:

    1. For someone who does know their way around Atom2 well - is there any advantage in using this? Anything intrinsically faster or better about the workflow, for example?

    2. Are parameters exposed in the AUv3?
