LTL SILVER BULLET mk2 by Louder Than Liftoff LLC (Released)

https://apps.apple.com/app/id6760909494

The Silver Bullet mk2 Plugin is a faithful digital recreation of our flagship Silver Bullet mk2 hardware unit. We meticulously modeled every analog circuit down to the component level. To push the state of the art further, we developed a new patent-pending technology called Dyna Realism™, allowing users to experience an inspiring spectrum of analog realism in the digital domain.

Use the three cascading Mojo Amps, powerful Tone Shaping EQ, and no-fuss ASPECT RATIO stereo image enhancer to sweeten and glue your mix bus, groups, and individual tracks in the DAW. The plugin accurately reproduces the harmonically exciting sound of the original while adding extra features that extend its versatility. Explore new digital Colour modules and Circuit Bending options exclusive to the plugin.

A MODERN ANALOG CLASSIC – NOW DIGITAL

The Silver Bullet mk2 Plugin is a results-oriented processor with an intuitive interface designed to deliver amazing tone like its analog counterpart so you can focus on making music.

Engage MOJO. Apply filtering, tone shaping, and stereo image enhancement.

Delight in how easy that was.

CASCADING MOJO

The 3-band Baxandall EQ features a Pultec-inspired low end and smooth, expensive-sounding top end worthy of renowned mastering EQs. The beloved AIR circuit now has its own dedicated control.

Tighten extreme low end with the TIGHT filter. The resonant, tape-like 25 Hz setting excels on mixes, while the 50 Hz setting is optimized for individual instruments.

Smooth digital top end with silky VINTAGE mode inspired by legendary 1970s British consoles.

TONE SHAPING

The original LF and HF frequency options have been expanded to four frequencies per band. AIR now has its own control for even greater flexibility.

STEREO IMAGE ENHANCEMENT

ASPECT RATIO enhances stereo width, height, and clarity without the phasey artifacts of many widening effects.

ASPECT RATIO delivers masterful results at the touch of a button. No fussy tweaking required.

CUSTOMIZE MOJO WITH C MOJO / COLOUR

The plugin includes the hardware expansion slot plus exclusive modules developed with Unfiltered Audio:

Hitmaker 4000 – 1980s VCA console saturation
Bitmaker 1200 – 12-bit sample-rate-reduced console character inspired by late-80s samplers
Vinyl Saturation – warm vinyl saturation based on Needlepoint
Helical Scan – VHS-inspired warble based on LO-FI-AF
VHS AF – combines Vinyl Saturation and Helical Scan
Hitmaker Comp – Mix Lord, Punch, and Gentle compressor modes
WHAT IS ANALOG?

Our goal was to capture the essence of analog, including variations, idiosyncrasies, imperfections, and delightful surprises. Every circuit was modeled down to the component level and enhanced with Dyna Realism™.

DYNA REALISM™

Dyna Realism™ uses our Virtual Parts Bin and Serial Number systems to construct unique static and dynamic circuit models across a spectrum of variation and realism.

Each setting reveals increasingly rich variations within and between channels, bringing life to static emulations.

SERIAL NUMBERS

Every plugin instance receives a unique built-to-order digital circuit associated with your license. The rear-panel serial number is functional and influences Dyna Realism™ behavior. Enter any number sequence to alter your build.

CIRCUIT BEND

Virtually hack the circuits without risk. BEND 1 and BEND 2 short power rails in different processing areas to create distorted and broken textures for creative exploration.

Hmm, definitely didn't follow the cheap pricing model of the Unfiltered Audio FX, I see. Not to say it's not great, really liked the beta, but will be curious to see how it does in the budget-minded iOS market.

Quote from Gearspace on the desktop version:

"I have 3 hardware Silver Bullets (MkI & MkII) and was able to give real world feedback and beta test during the development of this plugin vs my hardware. IMO, what this plugin offers sonically for the price is an absolute steal. It sounds amazing. Period. It is NOT a cheap gimmicky prosumer plugin like some on the market. It’s a high end professional tool. We are SO spoiled with excellent plugins these days. And this one is absolutely incredible. Worth every penny IMO. YMMV. But probably not the right tool for those looking for cheap plugins or $9.99 subscription models."

  • Wow it's here!

    @Gavinski
great plug, no doubt. (using it on desktop)
me big fan of UA plugs since their start.

for iOS version, waiting for salary day...:)

For people interested in this fx,
here is a short good reading about it, written by Josh:

  • I have (and love) the MKII hardware - never thought it would be on IOS.
The hardware slays the software (on a mix bus).

Yeah, clearly taken inspiration from the Battalion pricing rather than the pricing of the effects.

The interface still doesn’t look like it’s really optimized for mobile screens which feels like a real shame, especially considering the price point. Wasn’t the interface aspect ratio the overwhelming ‘needs work’ feedback from the beta? Maybe I’m misremembering?

Sounds great but out of my price range.

  • I read up on the hardware Silver Bullet some years back, and if this plugin delivers a decent approximation of that it should be really useful. It’s worth thinking about it as a multi-effect bundle when considering price:
    API preamp emulation
    Neve preamp emulation
    Pultec low EQ band
“Air” high EQ band (not sure what’s modelled)
Plus the listed colour modules including:
    SSL console saturation
    SSL bus compressor
    etc

  • Thanks for sharing this release. The combination of analog-style tone shaping and modern workflow features sounds interesting. I’m particularly curious about how it performs on mix buses compared to other mastering tools. Looking forward to hearing feedback from users who have spent some time working with it.

I don’t think rotaries are a good touch interface. I get the skeuomorphism, but what other input mode for software expects you to accurately rotate it for control? When I turn the volume up in a music app, I use a slider. Same for changing hue and saturation in a photo editing app - I’m not given a row of 4 tiny RGBA circles to accurately rotate.

  • @FizzyLizzy27 the dials are not an issue, they snap to a limited value range.

I spent some time with the TestFlight, I’m not sure I really need this kind of “pro” plugin but it does sound fantastic.

I guess that complaint goes beyond this app since I haven’t tried it out. I just think knobs as a touch UI is awkward.

Since the beta came out, I've put this on the master bus for every track I've made.

It's meant to be used subtly, although you can of course push it hard enough for it not to be subtle at all. When used as intended it creates an audible and very pleasing thickening of the signal, without making it muddy.

The EQ is also very good for mastering IMO, with a wide Q to each knob (which can be set to common frequency bands) so you can shape the tone of the master very effectively.

I personally really love this plugin, but the results are subtle - it just adds a sprinkling of spice on the final mix.

  • It's funny that I paid exactly the same on the desktop on a sale.

    No doubt.
I want to try the plugin to get an idea of how it works and what it can add. I have some nice outboard, the SB has been on my radar for a long time. My rack has filled up since but I'm still curious.

hmmmmm. Desktop would be better for me. I'm going to shop around.
