MidiSequencer v1.10 now available

MidiSequencer v1.10 update now available in app store, v1.10 lite in review also, so should be available today too.
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/midisequencer/id787934896?mt=8

Trying to finish the v1.10 manual today also (will replace the one in the app link), from tomorrow will start producing short video sessions on step sequencing using midiSequencer from basics (midi, sequencing etc) to advanced (lots of stuff!)

A reminder on what this give you in this free update:

New FX Ostinato - think of this as a midi version of sub-oscillator!

Per step %probability, %swing, Humanise(%chance, note & vel), fx slot disable

Improved slave to midi clock

midi thru (for notes & CC's) - send any input device to all outputs.

midi thru fx - plays a dummy step - so includes fx to allow you to use midiSequencer as a midi fx from a keyboard say.

Improved performance (for older ipads)

Improved midi devices panels

FX bug fixes (display mostly and comp gain was not being saved)

Shift Left/Right now fixed to not mess up controls.

Ability to have MidiSequencer launch via url (e.g. for AB presets)

Better audio handling session - although still silent.

Additional option to keep note intervals on linked controls.

Latest audiobus (2.1.5)

  • just made audiobus version live, so should be updated soon.

Cool I bought this last night. Really great sequencer. I'm turning my old iPad (ipad3) into a standalone midi controller for hardware, and this seq is great. Love the draw mode.
Improved midi clock is handy, I want to use this slaved to a groove box and then record the pattern from this app back into the hardwares sequencer, the better the midi sync, the better it will transfer across.

  • Per step %probability, %swing, Humanise(%chance, note & vel)...

    Awesome

  • Just stop it man. You're starting to make all of the other iOS developers look bad. ;)

  • thanks guys. Again, I'm always here to listen to feedback - alot of midiSequencer comes from you anyway - although I really wanted to do the fx echo :)
Let me know any bugs/issues, and I'll be sure to get a new version out with a fix.
Next on the development is song & patterns - it's long overdue and will be with the ability to run multiple parallel embedded midiSequencers.

    Manual update hopefully tonight...

  • lite version now available too - Although this is quite restricted in use (just to give you a flavour - so no AB!) it can be used with the full version (e.g. now it can by a slave) quite ok.

  • I reinstalled the app. Now when I hit play it takes eight steps till the sound plays (Nave, Module, Animoog, Laplace). When I stop it the blue light is eight steps ahead. Latest iOS/Air1. Is it me?
Seems like the new version doesn't like me ;)

  • I was waiting for the updated lite version and was all excited but it's not outputting midi at all, tried with Thor, Animoog, Grain Science and Tera. :-(

I don't seem to have much luck with this app but i'm updating ios to 8.1.2 and if that don't work will try reinstalling LMS.

  • Works ok for me? Some things to check:
    1) Options panel - make sure output latency is set to below 120ms (i.e. try setting to 0)
    2) Devices panel - make sure 0 latency on output.

@Peanutcram - are using the full or lite version?

  • Full version here.

  • please send me an email (in app) with as much detail as possible please - ios version etc.

  • ok, just deleted the lite version and redownloaded from AppStore, the output latency seems to be set to 5 seconds - which equates to about 8 steps.

Set this to 0 and you should be fine.

  • this is for both lite & full....

  • Thats it. Thanks Tony. Sorry, I didnt see

@midiSequencer Good effort (and real time support :)... cough video cough

Well I still can't drive the effects from another app ho hum....

Let's hope the manual is idiot proof

    You need :
    1) Record In button enabled

    2) Input device active

    3) midi thru + FX enabled in your input device

    4) Options record channel set to omni (or at least the channel you are sending on)

    5) a note on message from the input

If you have this right, the midi In LED should flash.

To get it out of MidiSequencer, you need (as per normal sequencer output of fx).

    6) Options Panel send FX (and normally note)

    7) Some FX setup in the FX panel

    8) Midi Send enabled.

So, get a sequence to play FX out first (6..8), then switch to using input 1..4.

Sorry it's complicated, but MidiSequencer allows you to filter per midi endpoint (i.e. port on an interface) and has many options for routing.

If you get this working, then you could try sending the note to one device and the fx to another....

  • All working now, reinstalling midiSequencer Lite seemed to do the trick and the timing seems much better now, just gets interrupted when switching to the synth. Cheers. :)

  • Looking good. Congrats on and thank you for the new release, Tony.

  • Hi thanks hadn't pressed the record in button. All working now :)

  • Great :)
Manual updated to v1.10, available in app. I'm doing a seperate manual for the midi fx.
