Luc.A - That beat (Tech house in Korg Gadget 3)

Hi everyone,

Here we are with a new track! Lately I've been listening to artists like Chris Lake and James Hype more and more, and I think their influence is starting to show in my productions.

I've also decided to keep producing with Korg Gadget and put Groove Rider 2 aside for now. GR-2 is a fantastic app with a lot of potential, but Korg Gadget simply fits my workflow better. At this point it feels like a second skin to me, and I'm very comfortable working with it despite its limitations.

Hope you enjoy the track, and as always, feedback is welcome!

  • It sounds a bit more like Deep House than Tech House, but honestly genres are more of a subjective construct than objective definition these days. Either way, I love the groove and the clear and punchy production.

On GR-II, I can't really use it these days. I tried to, especially since it's a great app, but as you said, Gadget fits my workflow better. Actually these days, Auxy Studio fits my workflow best since I can churn out quality tracks easily without much fuss/trouble. I produced ten tracks in it last week - two were client tracks, five grouped into an EDM EP, and three grouped into a "BoC-styled" EP.

Anyways, I enjoyed your track! :) Keep the clubs jumpin, mate.

  • Hi mate, sometimes it’s difficult to me to put my tracks in the right slot, lol. Gr2 is a great app, I love the sampler part, but in Korg Gadget I work faster and I feel more at home. Never tried Auxy Studio, I’ll give it a look and I’ll watch some tutorial to see how it works. Thank you for your kind words

Of course mate. Just a warning - Auxy Studio is a subscription priced app, but it's amongst the rare couple of apps I find worth the monthly subscription price. I can get stuff done really fast in Auxy Studio. I just tagged you in the piece I just posted to my music journal. :)

Auxy Studio does take a little getting used to, be forewarned, but once you get the hang of it, the sky is the limit! I'm trying to get Henrik to open up Auxy to the Files app so I can copy over my myriad of drum samples into it (rather than its current somewhat convoluted importing workflow), but Auxy Studio has so many samples in the cloud that you won't run out of sounds to use anytime soon. :)

Edit - Also, Auxy requires an internet connection to use since all the samples are in the cloud. The initial download doesn't take up much space at all, making it ideal for those with limited-space iPads/iPhones.

  • Yes, I’m aware of the subscription thing, but I’m not contrary to this, if it useful to me. But I don’t think I’ll use Auxy for now, because I only have a couple of hours in the evening to play with music apps, and I think that I have a solid workflow in Korg gadget (hint: Koala is my new sample browser and wave editor, and it works really well for my purposes). But maybe in the future I’ll feel the need to try something different, who knows
Thank you for your valuable info!

Sounds good mate. :) And of course. I want to be as informative as I can and help where I can.
