  • Do I need this if I have Koala ?

  • I really like the look of this one. He’s done a great job on tutorial videos for it

  • Oh cool! Big fan of his Koala tutorials .. this guy samples. Probably gonna break my haven’t-purchased-a-new-app-in-ages streak for this one ..

What if we have Koala, Flip, or Dawnbeat?

  • I'd say it's Koala redesigned by a Koala master. There are features that aren't present in Koala, or that have been modified to better fit his workflow. A kill switch, to name just one. Considering how much I've learned from his tutorials, I certainly owe him the £5 his app costs.

    (TIL that ALT + 0163 = £)

That said, there are some things Koala can do that Resamplr can’t, at least in its current version. For example, it isn’t an AUV3, and the ability to open Koala in AUM is a great feature. Nor can you open AUV3s in Resamplr, which has been a wonderful recent addition to Koala.

I’ll probably get it, but I’m not sure it’ll replace Koala in my workflow.

  • Looks like it has a bit more refined waveform navigation compared to Koala...

...even though I like Koala as a whole zooming and setting start & end point is a total nightmare as I almost every single time mess up either the start, end or loop point when zooming and navigating the waveform...

  • Looks cool, but not available in Italy.

Resamplr's waveform navigation looks pretty brilliant. The handles are always visible, even when you zoom in. You can only grab and move the handles from the bottom portion of the waveform window, so you can zoom the waveform in and out in the upper portion all you want without accidentally changing your points. According to one of the tutorials, start and end points snap to 0, thus minimizing pops.

  • Seems not available in EU, in general (PT here)

Yeah, I would likely have grabbed it already if it was available here in Sweden...

  • Reference Europe availability.

  • Just went to buy and noticed it requires iOS 26.5 or later … dang

That's madness. I bet you any money that's a box ticking mistake on his end and it actually runs on lower iOS. You should ask him about it.

Ah .. good thought, just shot an email over to him ..

  • Seems a bit early to push the button on this one . Don’t get me wrong I love this dude and his tutorials but this does seem like an early koala with different clothes on.

    Thank you @Jumpercollins
For this app I could break my main rule ‘don’t buy if you don’t need it’. I love samplers, lol.

  • I’ll buy it for the persistent play button and being not-magenta

  • I ended up purchasing and will hopefully get some time with it in the next days to form an opinion as to how or if it fits in my workflow. Will it replace koala? Maybe, but I don’t use koala to make lofi beats, dnb, jungle, and whatnot like many people.

My impression from watching his tutorial videos is that the app feels like it’s trying to take the best of the hardware/apps he’s done tons of tutorials on and combine the functions and performance of those. Kind of a one ring to rule them all scenario. I can already tell I’ll probably get along better with the sequencer than I do with Koala’s.

Anyway, $5 to support a product by someone that I’ve learned a lot from is a small price. I’m definitely not saying anyone should feel obligated to purchase though. Like many here, I’ve been trying not to just buy apps that I end up not using, or buy based on hype, or that just don’t fit in my workflow. It’s a tough battle we must all fight 😂

  • Question for users: do you sample just like Koala, by tapping a pad?

Long press to record and or swipe up to lock in recording.

  • Just watched the tutorial about sequencing. It’s cool that you can have different sequences running at different tempos. That alone might be enough to persuade me to get it.

  • I’ve watched the tutorials, truly impressive. Maybe I’m wrong, but seems that it works only on portrait mode (not landscape), and the app is not optimized for iPad screen. Can you confirm? Thanks.

I believe he mentions in an early video that he wanted it to fit perfectly on an iPhone screen.

Ok, thank you. I think I’ll wait to see if the iPad version will be added in the future. I have some problems with my eyes, and for music making I don’t use anything smaller than my 12.9’’ iPad Pro.

  • The videos are very informative but I really wish there was one which simply talked about the problems he thought there are with Koala which he and his partner have tried to address with this app. I don’t think that would be disrespectful to the Koala developer and it’s surely the information most potential customers want to know; or maybe it’s just me?

Same - I started watching a vid but I just thought - all I really want to know is the main differences between this and koala
