Which drum app has good randomization?
I‘m thinking about a drum app that features good (as in reasonable) randomization for steps and makes good use of touch UI. What are your goto app for this?
The intended workflow is to have some instant beats for jamming.

Sugar Bytes Drum Computer can randomise very usable sequences.
Drum Computer for randomization for sure. Editing sounds is a bit fiddly though.
Depends a little on what kind of jamming you want to do. Fully random isn't great for what I call jammable beats. Augmatic GRE + your drum module of choice can get you up and running with a more curated approach, but still with plenty of flexibility to add randomness and variety.
Beat Scholar has a unique interface and nicely granular randomization options. I haven't used the randomizer much though, I'll admit.

The drum pattern generators in the Rozeta apps are pretty useful too.
And another +1 for Augmatic GRE. Go for Drum Computer if you just want quality randomization with no real work from your own side. Go with Augmatic if you want to be more involved in the process, but with lots of room for happy accidents while tweaking:
Any idea why some presets don't load? Like Funk Shuffle just gets bypassed.

Here’s a few tricks for any drum randomizer:
Playbeat has the “most usable” out of the box beats (but man I wish I could not include any key, stab, bass or tonal noise)
You can run Drum Computer as a midi generator. Good patterns but they are a bit samey until you edit them - kinda busy imhop.
Running ANY of the LumBeat apps out as midi is great for each apps genre. Pop Dummer into OneShot is cool.

Because it's a hassle to use them as Midi module - never liked the provided sounds.

Lattice was another release similar to AugmaticGRE. I use it more for fills or percussion type stuff
Cems BreakBud has a pretty musical randomizer
No love for Battalion? Always been curious about that one.

Playbeat 4 for random voices, kits, sequences, parameters, also full editing capabilites. BUT unreadable gui.
The most professional "live" beats coming out from Patterning3, with drumsounds automations and lfo...etc. Fast process, but not about randomization.

@dermichl - A couple of questions: Are you interested in plain randomization or some sort of intelligent randomization? Some apps like Playbeat (comments noted) have some intelligence, others use an algorithm, and some use Euclidean patterns (which are very interesting, and a whole topic in itself. Also, do you want the randomization built in to the app or would a combination of drum sequencer like Octachron and a drum app be acceptable?
where's the random button(s) for Patterning 3. You "can approximate" random with all the ratchet probability pitch etc... but theres no "press here" to generate a pattern...
I love Battalion. The randomization is excellent and fun to play with live. Euclidean with patterns, fills, probability and all kinds of sequencing tricks to produce variation.

I see. You want randomization of patterns. Patterning is extremely adept and intuitive on the probability of all the features, including when notes will play, and how they play.
Plus, the wheels turn.... However you want them to.
If you are looking for pattern randomization, it isn't there. I would suggest it isn't as important as probability features, but I get it. I would suggest discovering new patterns and beats through plugging in just a few notes on a wheel and let it spin in a direction until you hear something that works for you. Change directions. Or make a wheel with only a few steps (let's say seven, or five) and let that circulate until it sounds new and inspiring. You can always expand the wheel to multiples of that same patrern and add variation.
It is the best drum machine on the planet for a reason as far as patterns and such.
Now for sounds, the new king for me is Battalion.
Sugar Bytes is good at randomization (Drum Computer, Egoist, etc) but you are usually stuck with a max of 16 steps.
I think Patterning has a max of 512!!! Per drum part!

I‘m looking for decent beat choices - a totally random beat does not make any sense for jamming.
I‘d prefer an all in one solution - a groovebox style app serving drum and synth duties would be ideal - though highly unlikely.

Seriously, I don’t know how you could devise a more complex drum synth and sequencing app. It’s kinda painful as a touch interface though.
One app that comes close would be Korg Gadget. The drum instruments that come with it (and the IAP’s) each comes with a large number of drum patterns that can be recorded into the sequencer. It also has synth instruments. On the other hand you’re looking at a relatively large investment in cash if you want a good selection of instruments. Gadget is currently on sale with 50% off so it’s a good time to take the plunge for anyone wanting to get into it. Also, it’s a bit of a walled garden, although you do get to use the gadget instruments as separate AUv3’s.
