  • Got that one on my feed as well. Sounds a bit boring but was a very well produced, interesting and watchable video.

  • Me too! I thought it was great- lovely seeing the husband and wife team making the pitch ben sticks.

  • I saw this also in my feed, but skipped it. My time is valuable after all. However, seeing some of what is being said here about the video, I will give it a go when I do have spare time. :)

  • I watched the video, it was a fascinating watch, especially the old guy who makes the pitch bend toggles out of hard wood, it was scary seeing how close the saw blade was to his fingers😱

  • @DMfan
    Thanks for posting, nice video.
I have an A1 and a Drum 3p. I use them all the time. Neither is perfect but they sound great and are a lot of fun to play. I know I will never sell them. Now, seeing the man who made the pitch stick, I will enjoy playing the A1 even more.

llove the video .. had nord lead 2,3 and both modulars bsck then … absolutely love “nord” sound - at least the NL2/3 and modular / modukar G2 spubd - fir ne one if best soubding VA synths ever.. especially NL2 ❤️

  • Still have My Nord Micro Modular which reminds me I have to go get some extra midi-interfaces at some point…(one of My no-name USB TO midi things is super shaky).

I’ve actually got a somewhatworking editor installed on My Mac Mini,I’ll check if I can find where I downloaded it from and if it’s still available.

    https://www.stage-engine.com
(Apart from a bit shaky midi on the Intel MacMini it's working quite nicely, will try it on M5 MacBook Air with Tahoe later on).

  • There are even web editors now (for G1) https://nordmodulareditor.com/patch-editor

This is the linked Nord Micro Modular editor running on my M5 MacBook Air, macOS26.5.2 :sunglasses:

    Cool!
Just need to get a new USB->Midi adapter as my current no-name one is having some connection issues likely because it has close to zero buffer for longer messages and barely copes regular midi messages...

Connecting using the midi-ports on the 18i16 4th Gen worked nicely though :sunglasses:

  • Well, the Nord Micro Modular is/was a fun tech-exercise in 2026.

Using USB-Midi cables an active DI-Box is needed to filter out the ground-loophum and slightly boost the output level which was surprisingly low (I also remember having had to use plenty of gain on the Mackie 1202 back in the days)..

It does have it's own 'sound' that is pretty hard to faithfully replicate using other synths but the 'types' of sounds it can produce can very likely be knocked up with other apps :sunglasses:

  • I got into the Nord sound because I had a groovebox app that came with samples of the Nord Lead 2 and I thought it sounded fantastic. I was young and the app was on my Kindle. Wait, just found it- G Stomper. I wish there was G stomper on iOS, I made a lot of cool stuff with that and the little Nord sample pack.

  • I have and love the DSP Discovery app v6.4.1 based on the Nord Lead 2, I think the presets sound crystal and sparkling compared to many other synth apps, but how does it compare to the hardware version?

I would say 90% close to HW .. filter is not exactly same especially on high resonance (but iťs very close), legendary NordLead oscillator FM modulation is not completely accurate and low bass spectrum is not that firm..

But it is really close .. for most of sounds, when you aoply effects and use rhem in context of song with other stuff there is not any meaningfull difference, it’s really good emulation.. The diff is more like academical debate for synth nerds, for practical use for normal musicians is itrelevant

The differences are mostly in the area of us, synth lunatics, who had actuslly Nord Rack 2 and Nord Rack 2x and heard the subtle difference between them 🙈🤣

    Hi @dendy,
Thanks for the explanation, it is encouraging knowing the app is close to the HW, the app presets are crystal clear and able to stand out in a mix without having to be loud. There are many new synth app being released but not many are up to the Discovery standard IMO.

    @rapidfire

crystal clear and able to stand out in a mix without having to be loud

yeah this is very common for entire NL1-2-3 and Modular serie, it cuts through any mix like swiss knife, and especially NL2 is absolute king in thisd area (Discovery emulates NL2) :-)
