ShinRonin by Audio Damage (Released on iOS)

One of Audio Damage’s first products, Ronin .. has been reborn!!
ShinRonin is a ground-up rebuild of Ronin, one of the earliest plugins they’ve ever shipped, first released in 2003. The original paired two delay lines with a set of morphing filters and two fully patchable routing matrices, and it earned a cult following for the strange feedback networks and self-oscillating textures you could build inside it. Twenty years on, they have rebuilt it for modern systems, kept the architecture that made it worth remembering, and released it for free.
Now available for macOS, Win, and Linux, with iPadOS on the way. Stay tuned 👀

Hell yea! Can’t wait to get weird with this one 🤘
Ubercool. Just downloaded the Linux version. Direct download (no registration etc.) and it works perfectly. It looks like freshly packaged: The installer inside the Zip file was added yesterday.
Working perfectly on Mac/Live, really good too.
I can't believe how clearly it is laid out, easy to read with bad eyes and also, how, just by looking at it for a few seconds, you know how to use it!
Ha Ha, my first reaction was "No way this is Audio Damage - I can read it!"
Made sense when I read the description. Good to know that they've grown over the years to wash out all the contrast and shrink those nasty readable fonts like good modern developers.
(All said in fun, btw. I appreciate AudioDamage a lot!)
Looks like fun! I'll wait for the iPadOS version.
It’s on iPadOS!!

This is excellent … very immediate, lot of fun to play with! Can hear right away how I might use it, more importantly.
Nice! Thank you AudioDamage dudes!
Yeah, its layout is its own manual, which is quite refreshing.
Design is restless, our tastes are fickle. What have we become? It is our children who will pay the price. Or whoever pays for their glasses. Probably me.
Cheers to the folks at AudioDamage 👍
Instant crash for me on iOS 15.3
works ios 17 plus I guess
It probably works on most things. Who's to say the crash has anything to do with the iOS version tbh. @Halftone best report to Audio Damage, I didn't have any probs but if you had, let them know 👍
Very kind of them to make this free
took it for a spin just now and I like what I hear.
The only issue I've found is that modulating LFO 1 rate using the Control Grid doesn't seem to have any effect i.e.
In both cases the "amount" slider is not at 0
Would expect to hear variation in filter cutoff modulation rate, but it's modulating at a regular rate, as if LFO 1 rate is not changing.
I like the old school interface + available on desktop + free, can't wait to try it out.
Kinda digging this. The slightly soft raster graphics are a little disappointing, but I ain’t gonna complain since it’s free. Although, with a basic vector graphic tune-up I would’ve gladly/totally paid for this!
I’m confused on how the routing works though… specifically on how to route things on themselves as mentioned in the app description. Anyone got a good demo vid link foe how the routing works?
It sounds so good with AudioThings Noise and B00gA
I wish that the UI would not scroll when dragging sliders
This does look like a bug, I couldn't modulate either LFO rate with any of the possible sources
Logged it on Discord. Dev acknowledged and will include fix in next update.
What an awesome effect
with shinRonin’s barking penguins w/ Hammerhead’s snare ratchet are heavenly.
Super excited for this. I have the OG version, so an update is much appreciated!
What am I looking at here? Sounds cool, but I am confused as to what that screen is showing.
Ai slop prompt “ shin ronin+barking penguins” just a jpeg placeholder.
It’s a wicked thing, very cool.
