Hi everyone - I am Rob Rightmyer from CodeFarmer.

I asked Michael before posting, and he said a short feedback/demo thread was okay.

PatchRig FX is a free music-effects app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The goal is to make it quick to build and hear an editable effects rig: start from a ready board, describe a sound, type a song-title-inspired request, or import a local reference, then audition and edit the resulting chain.

A few things that may be relevant to this community:

  • iPhone, iPad, and Mac versions are available.
  • Built-in audition sounds let you hear boards without wiring up hardware.
  • With a compatible class-compliant audio interface, the app can be part of a guitar, bass, keys, or vocal rig workflow.
  • Boards are editable: pedals, amps, preamps, DSP blocks, MIDI/instrument voices, and routing choices can be changed, bypassed, saved, exported, and shared.
  • The Pro library includes 500 generated boards, 500 generated pedals, 60 super-pedal style designs, amp/preamp builders, manual DSP module design, MIDI/instrument voices, iCloud sync, export, sharing, and community publishing.
  • The app is deliberately not an exact artist, song, amp, pedal, cabinet, IR, recording, or preset clone tool. It creates original rigs from built-in DSP blocks and labels limits/approximations.

Free users get curated ready-to-play boards, audition sounds, prompt board preview, and basic reference analysis. PatchRig Pro is optional and unlocks the full library, the deeper designers, unlimited saved boards/pedals/amps, export, sync, and sharing.

Commercial note: the app is free to download. Pro is an optional one-time unlock, currently US $39.99 through July 9, 2026, then scheduled to move to US $59.99. Storefront pricing may vary.

  3. whether prompt-created boards feel like something musicians would actually edit/use,
  4. what would make this fit better alongside Loopy Pro/Audiobus-style workflows.
