BOSS FS-1-WL Mod: 1x USB-A cable for power supply and wired MIDI
The original BOSS FS-1-WL cannot be powered via USB. From the factory, its USB port carries MIDI data only, while power must come from either two AAA batteries or a separate DC power adapter.
This is not ideal when the goal is to build an ultra-portable mobile setup with as few batteries, power adapters, and cables as possible.
This custom modification changes that: both power and wired USB MIDI now run through a single USB cable.
The FS-1-WL also supports wireless control via Bluetooth MIDI. However, for professional live setups where maximum reliability and the lowest possible risk of wireless connection issues are priorities, wired USB MIDI can be the safer choice.
No batteries. No DC adapter. Just one USB cable for both power and wired MIDI.
Dear BOSS team: for a possible FS-1-WL MKII or any future development of this product, please make USB power available directly from the factory—whether via USB Type-A or USB Type-C. Being able to transmit MIDI data and supply power through the same USB connection would make the FS-1-WL significantly more practical for professional, portable, and fully wired setups. ❤️
