Song Of The Month Club - July 2026
What is the Song of the Month Club?
It's a place where musicians come to give and receive feedback on their work. Anyone is welcome, whatever their level of ability.
The spirit of the club is to contribute: if you submit a song for others to comment on, you should also have the courtesy to listen to everyone else's contributions and give as much feedback as possible. Posting a track and not listening and commenting on others is not cool.
The purpose of feedback is to be honest. Essentially you should give your truthful impressions of the song, whether good or bad. Negative feedback, if done in the right spirit and with courtesy, can be the most useful and can help the artist to grow.
All submissions are welcome, don't hesitate if you want to contribute. We like all kinds of music and we are particularly fond of vocals (but of course we still love a great instrumental). If you are thinking of experimenting with vocals this is a good place to get started.
We ask that you only post one song per month in this thread - if you're lucky enough to be able to produce more, then please just submit your strongest material
And finally, iOS is not a requirement for posting here. If you've recorded your song using nothing but a ukulele and a Fostex 4 track, that's fine.

Just taking a week-long hiatus from music creation since I don't want to burn out too quickly. I'm looking forward to listening to and commenting on others' great works.
@richardyot Fantastic laid-back vibe on this track, even with the driving choruses. I love the electric piano, and the way that the distant reverbed guitar blends with the EP in the interludes is nicely dreamy.
Here's my track for the Song of the Month. Another that I had started a while back and largely forgotten about and was on my "revisit and finish" list. Aside from the drums, all the synths are from the Arturia ecosystem: Pigments, Pure LoFi and Augmented Strings.
This is a music track that I improvised on two MIDI keyboards connected to Bitwig Studio on a desktop PC. There the MIDI was routed to Solo for the bassoon, cello, and flute; Noire for the piano; and Continua for the background instruments.
After bringing the audio recording into Vegas Pro, I applied the Lurssen Mastering Console plug-in to the audio mix.
It's titled Pale Moon.
@DavidEnglish The bassoon and cello sound wonderful! The whole piece is very relaxing and contemplative.
Very catchy intro theme, which sets the tone beautifully, and lovely synth patches too. Then the second theme comes on the piano and makes a great contrast to the intro. The imrov playing is the icing on the cake, with lots of interesting melodic variation.
If it was me I would probably have re-introduced the intro theme again at the end, but it works just fine with your arrangement.
The laid-back beat and gently grooving bass suit the track perfectly. It's nice to hear something so unashamedly melodic.

re: Re-introducing the intro theme again at the end: I was debating whether to do this or not, and even tried a few ways to make it happen. In the end, I felt the piece worked better as a "one way journey" rather than trying to go "full-circle."
Yes, and in fact linear arrangements are the hardest to pull off IMO, so good choice.
Here is my new song released today inspired by Boards of Canada. Made almost entirely in my Akai MPC Live 3. The ashes to ashes, dust to dust is from the Speak of Witch text to speech app. Samples in the middle are from the 50’s sci-fi horror movie “The Brain that Wouldn’t Die”.

For me there was a strong Massive Attack Mezzanine vibe from the bass line and the beat. The eerie-sounding synth lead is beautiful, and the samples add to the atmosphere.
A slow march, with the bassoon taking the lead and the piano walking just behind. A bit darker than usual this one.
