Tonic Synth by Rubens Felicio (Released)

https://apps.apple.com/app/id6783345229

Tonic is an analog-modeling synthesizer that runs three ways: as a standalone instrument and as two Audio Unit (AUv3) plug-ins — an instrument and an insert filter effect — for your favourite host on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

THREE LAYERS, ONE SOUND
Stack up to three independent layers, each with its own source, filter, envelope, and modulation — from a simple patch to a thick, detuned stack with a single spread knob.

SOUND SOURCES
Physical models (plucked string, modal/struck, wind, bowed), virtual-analog oscillators (sine, saw, square, triangle, pulse, and super-saw, with sub-oscillator and noise), and a 16-table wavetable engine.

A FILTER WITH CHARACTER
Eight analog-modeling voicings — LP/HP/BP/Notch, 12 or 24 dB/oct, resonance up to self-oscillation, drive, and selectable oversampling (Auto/1×/2×/4×).

MOVE IT
A tempo-syncable LFO, an envelope follower (auto-wah), a note-triggered filter ADSR, pitch-bend and mod-wheel.

EFFECTS
Chorus, ping-pong / tempo-synced delay, FDN reverb (6 types), 3-band EQ, compressor, flanger, and bitcrusher — on the final chain.

MADE TO PLAY
Editable presets, MIDI Learn on any control, an on-screen keyboard, and a UI that adapts to your screen — from iPhone to Mac.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
100% on-device. No account, no tracking, no network. One-time purchase, no surprises.

Wow! Must be, it has “THREE LAYERS, ONE SOUND”!!!!

  • And a “note-triggered filter ADSR” as well 🤩

  • $35...but hey it's "private by design' and 'made to play'. Dang, it even has 'editable presets', holy moly

  • I come for the deals but stay for the sarcasm lol

  • Hold on folks, don't be so harsh. You can change the pitch of the oscillators. That's worth $20 on its own right there 👍

  • That spread knob had me spreading my wallet

  • I'm beginning to think these things aren't just vibe-coded and LLM-described, but actually completely authored and deployed by frackin' AIs.

  • Like the look of the GUI but that's very expensive for an IOS synth

OSCILLATING SOUND — Sound sounds good and it passes through a living breathing filter until it sounds like baby pigeons singing in perfect harmony .

LIVING BREATHING SOUND — Sound can be manipulated into esoterica magical mysteries using a revolutionary ASDR envelope.

LIQUID SOUND — Columnated Ruins Domino

Free to download — Pro features such as 1DB filter and resonance knob available for $35.99

    AUV3 coming upon return of Halley’s Comet . “

The middle bit of music sounds like those cheesy generic instrumental albums (Music for Pleasure?) they used to sell back in the day.....The worrying thing is I actually quite like it now...!!

  • That demo sounds nice, but as I was listening, I thought to myself "I already have synths that can make those exact sounds".

    Gonna have to pass.

Ah, you mean 'library music' maybe?
    Great vid on that here:

There's a cool compilation album "Further Nuggets" curated by Luke Vibert.

Library Music is a goldmine for crate diggers and sound collagists. Lots of wheat among the chaff. Pretty interesting history, too. It’s a bottomless reservoir of music and sound effects whose reason for existence is to be repurposed.
