I've not noticed a problem. Pinch zoom in/out works as expected. There is a snap to bars settings. Not sure what you mean by "zoom to fit" but you can only pinch in to the point that you see the whole clip so I suppose that is the same thing
It's still annoying. Cubasis 3 has an upside-down interpretation of where you pinch to zoom. For example, if you pinch-zoom on notes at the top of the MIDI window, it actually zooms into notes at the bottom of the window. But if you happen to always pinch right in the vertical center of the screen and then scroll vertically to see notes you want to see, you won't notice this. Apparently the developers didn't notice it either.
I reported that to Steinberg earlier this year. They said they'd fix it in the next release, so we'll see. It has been that way for a long time.
On the plus side, Cubasis 3 lets you enlarge the MIDI window, and it generally remembers your zoom and scroll settings for each clip. And it has an optional zoom slider in the lower right of the window for quick, one-finger zooming. It's a little fiddly, it moves in large jumps, and you have to switch it back and forth between vertical and horizontal zooming (I'd prefer separate H & V controls, even if they're smaller).

I'm happy to confirm that the problem with upside-down vertical zooming in the MIDI editor that I described above has been fixed by Cubasis version 3.8.5, just released. Yaaay -- thanks, @LFS and team!
