Audio Drop Outs with USB setup in Loopy (but works fine in AUM) ?
Hey everyone,
Thanks for having me on board. Looking forward to learning from you all on your Loopy experiences.
I'd love some advice on this setup Im having a problem with:
- m audio solo as the main USB audio interface
- Yamaha CK88 as midi controller (it also has a USB interface that I want to ignore)
- USB dongle hub (nothing fancy but seems to work ok in AUM)
The issue is that I am getting the audio drop out a couple of seconds after loading a project in Loopy when I want to use the CK88 as a midi controller ONLY. I get that I need to plug the Maudio in last so that becomes the chosen interface (not the CK88).
All this works pretty flawlessly in AUM so Im not sure why Loopy doesnt like it.
My guess is something like:
- USB interfaces are fighting eachother for attention
- USB hub is cheap (It's getting power from the wall, but still might be the issue)
I am going to try a simple midi out > USB convertor cable to only take midi from the CK88, which I hope will work but haven't tried that on ipad.
Trying various cables and dongles and combinations can get expensive ![]()
Just wanted to get some thoughts if anyone has had similar issues or found workarounds?
Really grateful for anyone's time! Thanks

I am sure using a usb midi interface will solve your problems..
@ravenhill: it is a little puzzling that this is happening in Loopy Pro only. When you say that it doesn't happen in AUM, were you comparing under near identical situations (same buffers, sample rates, same plugins and routing)?
What OS version are you using?
Can you give some more details about the what is happening when the dropouts happen?
Thanks for your reply ,
iOS version is 26. I only have ravenscroft piano, a very simple setup to test in both daws.
So I load everything up the same, and I get like a millisecond of the piano that plays before it cuts out. Loopy does not crash, and as I continue to play midi in via the keyboard, I can see the midi input is coming through and audio is being sent to the assigned channel. Just no actual audio then makes it through to my headphones.
The routing is the same. As for buffer/sample rate, I'll look into that more closely.
Thanks I'll see if I can dig some more!
Are these wired headphones connected via a dongle or plugged into the Solo?
In Loopy Pro’s System Settings panel, are either Multi-Route audio or Network
MIDI enabled?
When Loopy Pro is open, bring up the iOS control center and check to see what it shows as the audio input device.
