Logic Pro bug tracking
I needed a place to start tracking the bugs I've found in Logic Pro and this seemed as good a place as any. Certainly better than filing them into the black hole that is Apple.
❌ Floaty level meters
Levels on meters float up and down and fail to accurately display the actual levels.
"Fixable" by tapping on the meter's options icon at the top.
❌ AUv3 automation state can make a project unopenable
I've had a big back and forth with Apple on this one. Logic tries to reapply AUv3 automation state while opening the project, and it does it on the main thread, so if that fails, Logic crashes instead of opening the project.
❌ Audio clips randomly start playing back at the wrong speed
This one is fairly new I think. I've had this with a sample recorded at 128bpm, and then bounced in place with effects inside Logic at 128bpm, everything is fine and perfectly in time. Next time I open the project, that sample is playing back at ~124bpm and completely out of time with the rest of the track. Another sample, on the same track, that went through the exact same process, still plays back at 128bpm.
❌ "Could not open project because Audio is not available"
Well, make it available. That's your job.
❌ Missing Audio Files
How could we forget our old friend Missing Audio Files.
❌ Stupid sidebar
Open Instrument Patches in the sidebar, close the sidebar, do some stuff, open the sidebar and try to switch to the Plug-in Presets section, the Instrument Patches thing closes and then reopens itself.
❌ Unclosable play surface
Switch from Logic to another app, open Logic again, notice that the play surface has opened itself. If you do this while the selected track has no instrument, you get an empty play surface that's impossible to close.
❌ Output Event loading - via @boomer
See screenshot below.
❌ Maximum number of software instrument tracks
Won’t let you add any more, even though you are so far away from 1000 that you need a telescope to see it.

This one:

urgh, not seen that one yet. What plugin is that?
I think your audio clips playing at different speeds might be related to/caused by the Sample Rate in Project Settings changing on its own. If not then that’s another separate issue. Happens to me regularly.
That might be due to music apps automatically launching themselves in the background when Bluetooth is connected. The music apps change the sample rate at the system level and Apple intentionally does not provide a way of stopping this from happening.
That’s the modifier midi plugin. Wonderful concept - when it works. I consider this more of a nuisance bug as opposed to the missing audio files. That one can be catastrophic - it just was for me.
🤯
This. On a project with 6 instruments.
Here’s another. Undo stops working.
No error message. No indication that it lost track of changes. You won’t know until you hit the button and your last n number of actions aren’t there. Hopefully you hadn’t accidentally deleted something recently. Then that super convenient autosave feature permanently saves the mistake.
