Egoist vs WeJam WR6000
I'm trying to make up my mind which to buy. I'm liking Gadget because everything is self contained so I don't have to worry about sync issues. Both are essentially groove boxes.
I know Egoist is a sample slicer but it also has drum and bass synths. The WR6000 is only $14 but lacks the sample slicer but I think has more instruments. What interests me is that both are stand alone music makers.
If you had to pick one just on the basis of quality music(end product) which would you buy? Also AB/IAA would be nice. Thanks!

Download the free version of Weejam and see if you like.

Yeah, this. Spend some time with it too, because WR6000 hasn't really connected with me too much yet. I do think it is very powerful/versatile, but I just seem to struggle navigating the samples and synth sounds. Also, the sequencer was driving me nuts - I was having trouble getting it to play different notes within scales I set up.
Long story short, it's a little different, but you can use basically the full version for free, and it just kills the program randomly unless you pay for the unlock.
Egoist looks really cool, but not my style of music, and I haven't tried it.
Both are good for groove based stuff, the internal sounds on WR6000 are more flexible but egoist bass midi can be sent out to trigger another app if you want more sound variety. Egoist I think is slightly more unique.
Thanks guys for the tip. I downloaded Wr6000. I qued up some demo songs. The sequencer is a little whacked but it has an awesome sound. I see the patterns at the top of the screen but no copy and paste. Also from what I can tell it's just a bunch of preset sounds. Like @StormJH1 said it looks hard to navigate.
@RedSkyLullaby Have you used the WR6000 on any of your records?

None :-P Weejams interface didn't click with me and i have no room for just a Slicer with some extras .I already have countless of"sketchpads"as well.Did you buy Bilbao and Abu Dhabi for Gadget? Both are nice additionals.

I deleted the free version, didn't do much for me, not enough control and seemed a bit buggy. On the other hand I love Egoist. They're different beasts though, Egoists strengths are the sample editor and built in effects sequencer, but lacks a decent synth sequencer - you just get the sample, bass and drums.
Egoist works best for me, and I use other synths and sequencers to fill the gaps. It's really down to personal workflow and preference though as to which is going to be best for you.
WR6000 seemed so promising, but I soon ran out of motivated gas. I still think it's only a couple of extra bits away from being a serious player, but I was left feeling it needed to go in the 'Not Quite Yet' folder and see if this was a strong first step that was going to go further or if instead the developer had gone as far as they're going to. We'll see.

Yeah I have them. They are cool no doubt. I use Bilbao more for sample play back. I just wish Gadget had better mixing. I guess I'll have to audio copy the tracks into Cubasis for mixing.

I've barely even looked at WR6000, but I'll still suggest Egoist. One of the best all in one and fun apps available, and it plays nicely with others. I find it more inspiring than Gadget, and it's the app I fire up when I want to get an idea going without turning everyone on in the studio.
Sounds like most people are saying Egoist is the way to go. I hate that $30 price tag however.
Yeah but Egoist can do certain things far better than Gadget (i.e. sample trimming and effects). WeJaam is fun but it's differences from Gadget are miniscule...
@CalCutta Egoist has better trimming and effects than Abu Dhabi? What can you do?
Sorry, trimming was a poor choice of words there. I should say that the "chop" feature, where a sample is setup in segments that can be triggered via-sequencer, Egoist is far better than Abu Dhabi. The main reason why is because Egoist is very good at both transient location, and it has microfades (along with a better attack/decay control than Abu Dhabi, imo).
Admittedly, I like the general sequencer of Gadget more than Egoist, although Egoist's randomizer options are great and something Gadget doesn't have. The sequencer preference isn't enough for me to use Abu Dhabi over Egoist though.
