That was great Jacob.
I love your FM4 patch. I bought it earlier today - and I love it. Need to try and learn how to make patches like that. Just seems great for that kind of raspy, dry sound.
One thing I noticed was the LFO appeared to only sync to a speed of 1/4 and no faster. What's that all about? What about 1/8 or 1/16 or 1/32? Or am I mistaken?
EDIT : sorry forget this. I worked it out. It 16/1 and 8/1 etc is available and that was what I was after. Me being stupid.
I think I might buy photophore now - after your video
Hey Jacob... Would you consider posting a screen shot of that FM4 patch you made?
Would love to get a head start into trying to craft some of those sounds.
However if you want to keep it to yourself, I totally understand . It's a great sound .
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 I started changing the patch after recording the show and saved over the old one. But, tell you what, I made this patch for you and it should be big and fat enough! ;-D
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 Hope it works!
Thanks so much Jakob!
In return here's a bass patch I just made in a similar vein. I worked a few things out .
I'm totally loving FM4. Very easy to get to grips with but seems to provide infinite possiblities for dirty, digital, rough sounds.
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 Thanks man, that sound is awesome!
At first I thought FM4 was quite limited, but I was soo wrong.
Thanks for sharing, Jacob.
Cheers Jakob. Glad you like it.
When I play with FM 4 I seem to hear various sounds that remind me of a lot of "ZedsDead" dubstep stuff.
The ability to create a patch with 4 very different pitches (for 4 different operators) or sometimes 3 if one is used purely to modulate, is really nice. You can create a really fierce bass patch with some nice glassy tones up high.
It seems easier for me to do this than with the typical subtractive VA synths I've general used so far.
And for me it's about a million times more understandable than Nave and Z3ta and Thor.
So im a big fan personally.
It also seems good on percussive, metal / wood type sounds which I like (a la Laplace).
Most of my followers kno I love Propellerheads Thor a LOT and for me it will probably always be number 1.
But as you say Matt, the versatility of FM4 is awesome. It is climbing higher and higher on my list. Very special overall sound in this monster.
Love at first play!
