Apollo Remote Recorder -- on sale, and a new video...

Hi -- we dropped the price of Remote Recorder to a buck for the holidays. And I finally got off my duff, and did a video with more details on setting up a streaming audio connection from iOS to a Mac.

The app will record audio (with the recording being toggled by MIDI), and has a built-in web server so that you can move the recordings to the desktop easily. But the thing that people seem to be interested in is the audio streaming -- so you can go to Apollo Sound Injector if you're connecting a pair of iOS devices, or to either an AU for the Mac, or a VST, for the PC. Both the AU and VST are beta test versions (and really, the VST is more alpha), but they should get the job done. Give me a yell if you've got questions!

    • Did you ever sort out the issue with using this tech with Ableton Live?

Bought it during the last sale. Still doesn't work with my ipad2 (don't know why, it's audio over wifi, not Bluetooth). I will hijack Santas sleigh and get me a new ipad Air2. @papertiger, their website says it works with Ableton Live

    • The video gives the workaround for Ableton Live -- but it's a bit of a hack. There's an app called Hosting AU that does work with the Sound Injector AU (I still have no idea what Ableton doesn't like). Using Hosting AU and Soundflower, you can then route the audio into Ableton.

The biggest part of the latency is the WiFi connection, so the extra hop of Soundflower doesn't make a big difference.

I'm planning on having an update that will integrate directly with Soundflower (rather than using an AU) -- this will take Hosting AU out of the loop, and should be easier to get running (and distribute through the Mac app store).

    • @gsm909 -- What's not working? Let me know, and I'll do what I can to get it sorted out.

    • @SecretBaseDesign, your website says older devices not supported include ipad2. I checked again today, and couldn't get sound between ipad2 and PC running Ableton (maybe I'm having the same problem as @papertiger with Ableton). I will have another charge at it tomorrow and report back. Thanks

    • Hang on -- the iPad2 restriction is for MIDI over Bluetooth (the iPad2 doesn't have Bluetooth LE). You should be fine sending audio over WiFi.

    • @SecretBaseDesign. Hi. I have setup ASR on ipad (watched all YT videos, from Colin @ TheSoundTestRoom, as he is using a PC). Web server on iPad setup as 192.168.1.46:8675. When I start ASI VST in Ableton and set the web server to match the ipad I am not hearing any sound input at Ableton. If I then reopen the plugin window, the web server address has changed to 192.168.1.11 . I cannot get any sound from iPad to PC
